|08:37 am - Wednesday Wish-Place: order and perspective|
This is another one of my busy Wednesdays, made more complicated because I am doing extra work for a colleague. It's not BAD work, but it's definitely an overload in an already overloaded day....
So I am seeking neoclassical order and symmetry in abundance. (I'm also seeking pots for outside planting, but that's a story for another day.) Anyhoo --
In my recent quest for All Things Provencal as well as All Things English and Many Things Mid-Century Modern, I've started following a blog named Chic Provence. Despite the name and the focus, the blogger is actually from Northern California, and her most recent post is about the gardens at the Filoli Estate just south of San Francisco. Three images I love, then, and places I would wish to be:
A formal pool, linear and contained, with flowers and tidy plantings on each corner. If you want a visual rest, lift your eyes to the vista of the hills beyond.
A gate to a long straight walk through various garden "rooms." Again, tidy, contained profusion in greens and white and faded brick colors.
And lastly, because I'll need arches to the world outside by this evening, and because I'll need rich colors to soothe me, this inside-outside vignette.
I feel better now.
May your day give you the wish-places you need!
I like the colours of the flowers in the pictures. Very spring-like.
I am really feeling the need for rich intense colors right now!
Cheers, T, and happy (almost) end of the week. :)

I hope you get there too:)
We persevere, mate!
[hugs and great shoes]
Oh my goodness, those photos are insanely beautiful.
And yay! of outdoor pot planting. I'm trying to convince my sister to do some kind of clay pot/planter thing in her back yard, because she has a yard and I don't and I want to garden vicariously.
I fixed the links -- now there are three photos.
I am planning to buy a blue pot (and red trellises, not for plants but for visual interest) this weekend, and then take the plot to the local nursery and have them fill it. Lazy, yes, but practical. [beams]
Those images are lovely and refreshing!
Is it Friday yet?
I'm glad the photos pleased, Gwynne! [hugs]
And a good Thursday to you, L! [hugs]
Oh, these are lovely, and do help calm the overstressed mind.
thank you, and ::HUGS::
I am finding myself drawn to photographs of gardens these days. (Being outside, however, makes me sneeze. Alas!)
[hugs] Happy Thursday, H_P!
Oh, these are beautiful places indeed. I love where you live in your head, L. :)
Happy almost-Friday, F! Cheers and good thoughts to you. :)
Lovely, lovely....there was a wan sunshine earlier here in the Pacific Northwest but suddenly rain again...a good day to sit inside wit yarn and Poirot while waiting for my hostess to return from her place of employ.
Cheers and hugs from us both!
I hope there's rain where you live and not just where you're visiting, ALH. Hugs to you and your hostess! :) Happy weekend!
While exploring the Antiques Quarter of Sheffield yesterday, I was struck by how very apt the local mosque is for its surroundings. It's very much a piece of northern industrial arctitecture while also being exactly what it's designed to be:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medina_Mosque_%28Sheffield%29
Oh, that's really beautiful. Thank you for sharing the link!
