|08:07 pm - Monday|
This week has started in manner of runaway train, all hurtle and screech and prayers that nothing's on the tracks. (It's just work, though. Nothing major.) We hold on. Oh boy, do we hold on.
What's left today is a bit more work, and a few emails to answer, and trash to take out. What I'd like to do is curl up with an undemanding and pleasurably familiar DVD or old book I know by heart, but... not today. Not this week.
Monday pleasures, then:
*walking in the cool morning with Master Danger, going by the diner on our main street, thinking of bacon and eggs and hash browns in a sunny booth with ripped vinyl seats.
*thinking then of Ed Ruscha's 1960s photographic studies of Los Angeles architecture and gas stations
*having a strong memory of long-gone spring nights and Linda Ronstadt on the car radio, her voice pouring out of the speakers and rattling the dashboard of my old Cavalier. She'd have been singing something like "When Will I Be Loved", a song that I've been thinking a lot about.
May you have more pleasures than you can count as we start this week.
Honey, you are loved, but I'm probably not what you had in mind! And your comments on work remind me to be thankful that retirement did happen.
Thank you, Mamculuna. :)
And hurrah for your retirement, so that you can travel and experience more deeply!
Oh, my...Linda brings back my youth something fierce.
Now is better. And don't let those statisticians get you down. Women over 40 have great odds (but we may not want to actually get married, which confuses the numbers people). I was over 50 before I found B and he remains hands down the best match I could have imagined.
Meanwhile, love is all around you in various guises.
::hugs, hugs, and more hugs, plus a prescription for a brief read of a beloved chapter::
Linda Ronstadt was part of my youth too. [beams]
Now is better, and thank you for kind words. I will try to remember them.
[hugs] Happy Tuesday!
oh, yes, driving around the back roads at night with the windows rolled down, singing along (loudly) to Linda Ronstadt. The roads went everywhere and we had all night to drive them.
I wonder if kids still do that.
You know, I don't think kids do drive around in the same way. And I'm not sure they listen to the radio much, or have that delightful surprise of a favorite song almost forgotten coming on.
Hugs and a good Tuesday!
yum. Bacon and eggs from a diner.
So tasty! (Most of the time. ;))
Cheers and a good day!
Ed Ruscha is so very yay. :)
Hugs and a great Tuesday!
Your self discipline is admirable, L! You are such a role model for me, lazy me, rather-be-sleeping me. :)
And also, hugs.
I wish it WERE self-discipline! But honestly, the walks are Pet Care. ;)
Cheers and a good Tuesday! [hugs]
The minute you said "Linda Ronstadt," that's what I started singing.
::may or may not have bought a Waring blender on the strength of that song::
Awesome! Glad to remind you of your Waring Blender. :)
Cheers and a good day to you and yours.
