|03:23 pm - Randomosity|
I have, on rough estimate, 80 kazillion things to do right now. However, I also have a sinus headache of epic proportion, so why not ignore my list of lists and post a few random thangs:
*I had successfully ignored the whole Kim Kardashian/Kanye West nuptials until I foolishly followed a twitter link today to a story about the wretched excess that was their celebration of love. Note to self: IDLY FOLLOWING TWITTER LINKS IS OF THE DEVIL.
*I spent some of this week rereading some of Bujold's Vorkosigan books (comfort reading, yes). This passage from Captain Vorpatril's Alliance, in which Rish the Jewel talks about her lover, the debonair, unutterably louche espionage agent Byerly Vorrutyer: "'The mouth ripples on amusingly enough, though most of what comes out is camouflage and the rest is lies--not so much to me, though. But the hands.... The hands are strangely shy, until suddenly they turn eloquent. And then their candor could make you weep. A woman might fall in love with the hands."
*Here's Matt Smith wearing pointy-toed red shoes. Mr Smith wears them well.
*I spoke of the epic old-school-yet-subversive romance classic The Windflower t'other day, and here's a link to the Smart Bitches chat with the author(s). Once in, skip down to 10:01 to access the authors' answers. (The chat log says just Sharon; it's unclear if Tom is there too.) The revelation of what got left out of The Windflower is tantalizing, AND it's suggested that there might be at least a novella coming of What Happened to Cat. Oh. My. Goodness.
And what random stuff is pleasing you today? :) May it keep on going through the weekend!
Those are very nifty shoes:)
They ARE very mod, very cool shoes. :)
Cheers and a great weekend, mate! [hugs]
Excellent random stuff (except for That Wedding, of course)!
My random stuff: Jo Walton's new novel My Real Children, which I will probably finish reading today, and the bottle of Riesling I bought at Trader Joe's, which I will probably open tonight!
Yay for good books and for Riesling! Yay for you and your awesomeness! :)
I've been watching the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter. On Wednesday night I was glued to it, waiting for it to hit a million dollars. Better than the glitter ball in Times Square on New Years Eve.
A Windflower novella would be wonderful. I'm not sure if I want a story where Cat ends up settled down and HEA, but Rand Morgan meeting his match? Definitely.
Hurrah for the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter! :)
The Curtises in their Q&A didn't have much more to say about Rand Morgan, alas, except that he had a daughter (!). Ah, Rand.

Random stuff? Emily (aka Elder Daughter. I've given up, I'll just use their names from now on) came home from the park this morning with tales of kingbird nests, crows chasing ravens, and battling baby bluebirds. Seriously, two fledgling bluebirds flapping and chirping at each other until the adult male came swooping down and broke up the fight.
Also I made some progress on the online class, so go me. And I got two more vintage My Little Ponies in the mail today. At some point last week, I decided that my little herd of two babies and one adult needed expanding, so I've been shopping on eBay and etsy, and I went a little crazy. I'm going to have to make space in the studio for them soon. How's that for random?
Also too, books - I find myself rereading Discworld novels when my brain hurts, and my brain hurts a lot lately. The rest of the family is starting to look at me funny...

Birding! How wonderful for your Elder Daughter!
And yay for creativity and cool things in the mail. :)
Wonderful red shoes! Those randomly please me!
OMG, that reminds me, I STILL haven't read Captain Vorpatril's Alliance. I'd best download that ASAP. :)
Captain Vorpatril's Alliance isn't as... highly charged as a Miles book, but then, Ivan's story wouldn't be. ;)
Cheers and red shoes! [hugs]
((Hugs)) and a good dose of Flonase to you. Tumblr and Twitter are both tools of Satan. They suck you in and you never get anything done ever again. Feel better.
Hugs, hats, and Hiddleston to you, my friend. :)
