|05:54 pm - Nothing to Report|
I would have posted a couple of days ago, except that I have been flattened under work. Imagine, if you will, an anvil. No, imagine a boulder. No.
Let's not imagine that at all.
It is a steamy cusp of evening here in the subtropics. I'm off to the local Friday night farmers' market downtown, but first I wanted to wave.
Other than work, I have been trying to avoid the worldwide bad news (another anvil, another boulder, let us not). I have been working-out-ish. I have been parceling out episodes of Series 3 of Silk, one an evening -- wherein I know that Maxine Peake and Rupert Penry-Jones will not end up together, nor do I think they should, but oh I want them to -- and caught up with The Musketeers Episode 4. I have read The Suffragette Scandal, Courtney Milan's new book -- the link going to Smart Bitches Trashy Books' rave review, which I would mostly endorse. I've been drinking iced tea. I've been dreaming of autumn.
May your mid-July be sweet, may it be uncrushed. ;)
Oh, I heard about The Suffragette Scandal at Readercon! :-)
Did people have ARCs? It just came out Tuesday!
Anyway, it's well done, and really really pushing all sorts of boundaries. :)
At a romance panel, people were generally enthusing about Courtney Milan and squeeing that the book was about to come out!
Hurrah for a break in your heat, for lolling, and for spinning!
And hurrah for you! [hugs]
Oh, amiga. Good luck with the anvils. They are everywhere these days, aren't they?
I hope you have a lovely weekend! I have no idea what will happen here.
I think we should have a moratorium on anvils for a while!
Hugs and a good Lone Star weekend, Cronopio. :)

Mid-July here is looking like HOT, unfortunately. It's supposed to go from 79° in LA to 99° by the end of next week, and hotter here. I'm dreaming of a nice wet winter.
I wish you a restful and restorative weekend. [hugs]
Alas for HOT! And I am so very much hoping that your state gets a nice wet winter.
[all the hugs]

As someone suffering from steamy weather here in the UK I've been dreaming of autumn too!
Sorry about the anvils and boulders. Many hugs.
We must just make it through summer... and you may take comfort that your autumn will come well before mine. ;)
Hugs and good reading and adventures!
I just finished The Suffragette Scandal- I woke up early just to read it. So good.
The book was a delight! And so are you. :)
Cheers and hugs!
Apparently LJ ate my comment, but I'm hoping for better times and temps for us all as soon as TPTB can get their act together.
Which probably means next week at Comic-con will still be hot and anvil-ish. Sigh.
I'll hope for Pacific breezes at Comic-con for you, ALH! Also, a safe trip. :)
The heat has been horrible here as well (in the nineties, we had some of the most humid days we've had in a long time last weekend), so I've been feeling a bit crushed. It has finally lifted, so I anticipate
next week will be more fun. I have been trying to enjoy summer with lots of fresh fruit, iced lattes, some bike rides. I also bought an incredibly cool hat last week. It's a dark brown straw Panama hat with a ribbon around the brim with subtle stripes of cream, brown and orange. It turns up in the back in that jaunty way. So I intend to draw inspiration from the hat for the rest of the summer. May we both find ways to remain uncrushed! ((Hugs))
I saw that you all were having horrible weather -- and I'm glad it's better now.
The new hat sounds fabulous! Cheers for you!
Hope your weekend was restful and mostly uneventful.
I need to grab that book.
I think you'd really like the book! Or at least find stuff of interest within.
