|03:29 pm - (Almost) End-of-Month Potpourri|
I have been working and/or sick-and-working for the past weeks, but I have fifteen minutes to breathe... and to comment on various doings. Without further ado:
*on l'affaire Clarkson -- I am saddened yet somehow unsurprised that Jeremy Clarkson, who has played an amusing but loud-mouthed bully on Top Gear, is a significantly less amusing, physically abusive bully to his colleagues in real life. While it's too damn bad that Top Gear will lose its centrepiece, he couldn't be allowed to behave so atrociously and not face repercussions.
*on the promised return of The X-Files -- SQUEEEEE. [runs around happily with hands in air, in manner of Muppet or similar] I am one of the few who liked the 2008 film, and I can't wait to see how the six episodes will shape up. I ride for Mulder and Scully.
*on the departure of Zayn Malik from One Direction -- I am slightly surprised that I actually know who he is, and I wish him well. Hope the four who are left can carry on.
*I am deeply appreciative of the model and the clothing in the Oliver Sweeney ad campaign, as collected by Grey Fox.
*On today being the last day of Nicholas Hytner's artistic directorship of the National Theatre -- #ThankYouNick. It's been a great run.
Hugs to all, and may you have a great weekend!
I loved the second X Files movie as well. *squees with yout*
Wheee! Let's dance in celebration!
I live under a rock, I missed all those things. (I'm not actually sure I've even heard of One Direction.)
However, the return of the X-Files is pretty awesome.
I rather like some of One Direction's songs -- "Best Song Ever" is a delight, as is the video. I am not their true audience, but good luck to them. :)

I suspect all three will end up Sky.

Re: Top Gear
Yes, you're probably right. I likely won't watch any more, although I'll revisit some of my DVDs. :(

Re: Top Gear
Same here. Though it will still, presumably, be repeated wall to wall on Dave.

Re: Top Gear
Likely to be repeated endlessly on BBC America too!
Have a great weekend, Lori!

On more X-Files - I squeed too, and then emailed several people with the good news.
While I didn't love the second X-files movie, there were aspects that I certainly appreciated. And with the Younger Daughter working her way through the series, I had an excuse to buy the DVD, so I'll finally get to watch the uncut no-commercials version.
Happy weekend, L!
Hurrah for re-watches and for you! :)
Hugs and a good weekend.
Those are beautiful clothes, on the site you linked to. I'd like to date a stylish man, or any man. No, that's not true.
weren't those clothes on that gentleman fabulous?
Where I live, such glittering masculine beauty of a certain age doesn't really happen....
Hugs and healing!

Feel better soonest! As usual, love the fashion pics you find!
Thank you! As soon as the pollen subsides, I'll be fine. :)
Cheers and a lovely Sunday to you, with books and tea!
And a great Sunday to you, L!
I heard about the return of The X-Files, I'll have to brush up a bit on it. I don't even remember if I've seen the 2nd movie.
The 2nd X-Files movie is kind of talky, but in ways I really liked. I need to rewatch. :)
I'm not actually sure I saw the second movie. I most likely did, but I've forgotten what happened. I remember the first one as being rather lame. I also admit I stopped watching the show regularly during the last season or so, because it seemed to be going off the the rails IMO. But I am definitely up for this revival. It will be nice to revisit these characters.
I like the clothes and the model, but I just can't get behind that beard. I am not into this whole mountain man beard trend. I'm all about being able to see a man's bone structure. ;)
I confess that while I'm not a fan of beards as such, I do like that glorious silver beard on the model in the picture. But yes, the "mountain man beard trend" does not speak to me. :)
