|11:42 am - Things of Joy Today|
Ten minutes, ten Things of Joy in the past couple of days:
*Diana Rigg Q&A in The Observer.
*a Knockout rose bush, now in my back garden.
*Sarra Manning's novel Unsticky (I've linked to the forthcoming paperback, although I read the hardback): loads of London and fashion and quirks and coolness.
*this youtube video of Bryan Ferry singing "Avalon," live, 2000 -- a song I adore regardless of its uncoolness. (Also, Mr Ferry -- smooth, louche, floppy-haired, and with a perfect white shirt!)
*walking in the unseasonable morning cool.
*the Small Blonde Dog, her adorable white paws positioned for cuteness, watching me get ready for work.
*eagerly awaiting my new Pet Shop Boys CD, and also the Flatlanders' new CD. (I am a woman of varied tastes. :-))
*Teh MacFadyen on Ashes to Ashes, bless him and his early 80s porn 'stache.
*hanging out with friends this weekend.
*a lunchtime salad which hit the spot perfectly!
I cling to these Things of Joy, and I wish many joys for you all, too.
The rose is really, really lovely. Just washed by rain, lots of buds ready to go... :-)
Hugs, joy, and healing, Rainkatt!
That rose looks like it would be a better modern replacement for my old Betty Prior, which is horribly virused and rabbit-bitten.
Julia, the rabbits have whacked many parts of my garden
The Knockout is being pushed here in Zone 9, and I hear good things about it from my gardener friends. Will it work in your zone?
Anyway, hugs and good luck, and NO RABBITS.
I'll converse with my Florida rose-growing people and see; I owe both of them Emails, anyway.
Julia, remiss in so many social matters...
Bless you, and your varied tastes, and your tres cool uncoolness.
did you catch MacF in "Frost/Nixon"? One scene in particular will please.
::hugs:: and yay for "Hay Fever", which I will one day crawl out of my den and read, although it may take til after finals. Hard to say.
I didn't get to see Frost/Nixon! [scurries off to Netflix]
[comes back and sends masses of hugs, and good thoughts to you and the Tall Man]
Joy joy to you, C! :-)
[hugs as well]
Mm, that rose is indeed a thing of joy and with all the best qualities besides beauty....nice choice!
What a delightful list and so kind of you to share! hugs, hugs and more hugs in celebration of joy.
It just rained here, and with raindrops sparkling on the cherry-red blooms... it's a Thing of Joy indeed.
Hugs and joy sent to you, poss with yarn and Champagne. :-)
The Knockout rose is a knockout!
And I love Bryan Ferry... :-)
Bryan Ferry has aged exceptionally well... or, at least, to my taste. ;-) Love that version of the song, too.
[scatters rose petals for more joy]

Yay for all the good things:)
Hurrah for Alex and Gene and Chris and Shaz and even Ray! :-)
[hugs and joy to you]
Your lists always inspire me to greatness, but my lists pale in comparison to your notes of joy. Thank you!
You have great lists, F!
[sends good thoughts of Champagne and your cruise soon]
Happy happy, and also, joy joy! :-)
I hope your week is wonderful. [hugs]
Yay for happy things!
Hurrah for happy things, Gene and Alex, and you! :-)
Seems to me that Bryan Ferry has always been a man who knows how to wear clothes. I loved his cuffs in the Avalon video.
It was cool here this morning, too. And very clean after two days of rain.
Diana Rigg is so cool.
Yes, Bryan Ferry's been a sartorial god for a long time. (In my TBR stack is a book about Roxy Music, and I'm hoping it has info re clothing. ;-))
Hurrah for cool (in terms of weather and role models), and hugs hugs for you!
