|03:21 pm - Sunday (and WriSoEveryDayMo), Post #73|
Oh joy and rapture, Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. is over for a few blessed months!
Despite it being unseasonably
hellish hot today and for the next five days, I'll be able to pretend that cool autumn happy times are here when the early dusk arrives. My childhood memories of early winter dark are all pleasurable: coziness, comfort, renewed energy for reading and thinking until bedtime. The shift in times also means that I'm walking Master Danger after sunrise again, albeit not very long after, which means I have more time in my morning for Doing Things.
Not that I've been super-successful at Doing Things today, but I've tried.
I'm also going to do, not NaNoWriMo, but a month of Write Something Every Day, on a project that's hung fire too long. My goal is two pages a day, and I've hit it for this Sunday, which delights me. On we go!
And while I post my progress on WriSoEveryDayMo this month, I'm also going to do semi-mindless lists every day.
Today, November, 1 --
FIVE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT NOVEMBER
1) American Thanksgiving
2) Cinnamon rolls, homemade*
4) chilly sunrises*
5) finishing Christmas shopping
*These usual November treats are currently held in abeyance, due to Unseasonable
In other news, I will join others in noting that not only did last night's Who episode "The Zygon Invasion" pass the Bechdel Test, it failed the reverse Bechdel Test, and did so without comment and with a full range of female characters. Pretty amazing.
Hugs to all!
God, I cannot remember ever being as annoyed with the last week of DST as I was this year...thank God it's over!
It was chilly enough here today that I had to drag out my fleece vest, hooray! Here's hoping for a cool front in your future.
I envy your chilly weather! We're almost 15 degrees above normal, and it's not cool.
Happy early sunrises and early sunsets to you and Trace.
I used to dislike the end of DST because my evening commute was doubly hellish in the dark, but now I have no evening commute, so yay!

Yay indeed! And happy Monday morning with no commute, too. :)

Yay for cooler dog walking temperatures. Shares this morning's cold fog.
Well, it's not cooler YET: we're in a horrible heat wave, and today is going to be August-hot. But soon!

I agree with 4 of those (alas Christmas shopping..) I like the earlier sundown too. Just a nice change.
Yes, early sunset is a very nice change indeed.
Hugs and tea for your Monday!
I note with semi hatred that your November list of Stuff includes "finishing" shopping for Christmas. In November, you're done? Incredible.
Good thoughts for Write Something Every Day Month. I should do that! Except not on creative stuff...
Hugs, and here's a return of early dark, which I kinda like myself.
Re Christmas shopping: one brother's gift is a joint effort of me and the other brother, and that's done, and my dad's done. Just two more people to do.
(I have drastically scaled back on Christmas giving.)
Cheers and happy writing! Hugs!

We're two behind on Dr Who, but I'm glad to read that they'll be worth watching. Some real fall weather would be a lovely thing, wouldn't it? [hugs]
Who has been changing up genres a lot this series. Some good stuff. :)
Hugs for your Monday!
Love the end of DST, even if it does mean the sun is down by the time we get home from work.
Hopefully it cools off soon so you can enjoy your usual November treats :)
The subtropics are still too hot! But it will end. Sometime. I'm sure.
Cheers and a good Thursday ahead!
