|07:00 pm - So, Anyway, Post #23|
Hullo, I am behind still/again, but I wave in passing. Let's give a Friday Five for gratitude:
*I bought myself the audiobook/drama The Diary of River Song, which has finally arrived. There are amazing voice actors in each of the 4 hour-long dramas in the set -- Alexander Siddiq and
Imelda Staunton Imogen Stubbs, what! Paul McGann! -- but I have only listened to one drama so far, the reason I bought the set.
Samuel West plays "Mr. Song," a most Doctor-y fellow, in the drama "Signs," which is basically a two-hander. I went into it a Sam West stan, but his performance in this is so murmurous, so clever, so indescribable... Anyway, I feel blessed. :)
*Today I sent help-me emails to 1) my tree guy, 2) the landscape designer who's doing my front yard in tiny increments, and 3) a bathroom construction person. My tree guy D has already shown up, in drizzly weather but wreathed in smiles, and has offered wise words, information, and an only slightly gulp-worthy estimate. (I have a cherry laurel in the front yard which requires careful handling, and I trust him. I also am getting weed trees out of the back corner of the backyard, because that's actually my view from my bedroom and I just feel it needs Beauty, Darlings.) The landscape designer D has emailed cheerfully and fixed a time next week to meet for our consultation. I feel slightly better about things.
However, looks like I'll have to paint my kitchen cabinets myself because of costs. Sigh.
*Had a health screening today at work (you know, run the numbers, talk to a health person, get a few dollars off one month's health-insurance premium, that sort of thing). All my health numbers were fine except my weight, which has crept up into I Am Not Pleased territory. Let us cling to the Everything Else is Fine.
*Rain, rain, rain! In April! (That doesn't happen in the subtropics.)
*And the hydrangeas my friend A gave me last summer from her own cuttings are now leafing out beautifully. I don't even care if they bloom this year or not.
Hope you have more than five things to be happy about today!
Yay River Song audiobook, rain, and hydrangeas!
And yay for your Saturday!

Oooh, we shall have to get that audiobook set!
For some reason it was never properly released on Amazon, but it seems to be available anyway. :)
Cheers for you and K today!
What a great list, L! I'm so glad things are being taken care of! (Except kitchen cabinets, but I feel you on that one. I'm staring that one down myself. With a glare.)
Hugs and happy Saturday!
Well, I haven't heard back from the bathroom guy yet, but it's early days.
Cheers for you dancing today! [hugs]

Yay for a Sam fix:)
I wish he'd show up in Who proper, because he is so very awesome. :)
Cheers and hugs, L!
I love hydrangeas- I can't even pick a favorite color, they're all so pretty.
Rain here as well, never quite where or as much as what the forecasters say, but still- rain.
I LOVE blue hydrangeas in particular! Have you ever seen photos of Georgia designer and eccentric Furlow Gatewood's front drive? Here.
We actually got an inch over the course of two days, which was needed so very badly. My tiny redbud tree, planted last year by landscape designer D and given up for dead by me, just leafed out in response to it. :)
I have no doubt your kitchen cabinet painting will be awesome, judging from pics you've posted of previous decorating efforts. And I hear you on the weight. At this point, my goal is just to not gain any more weight while I wait for my body to repair itself so I have the *energy* to make my body shed weight.
((Hugs)) to you.
I send masses of hugs for your 'repair' process. I will talk to you soon, when I'm not quite so drowning in Stuff.
I hear you on the I Am Not Pleased with my weight territory. I need to stop eating garbage...easier said than done though.
If only we had enough trees to need a tree guy, but I could use a landscape designer our yard is pretty plain.
So much easier said than done! The grocery store is a minefield these days...
Cheers for your Thursday!
