|10:06 am - Clearing and Planting, Post #24|
Allergies, work, barking dog, blah blah.
So yesterday was also a day of madness at ye olde homestead, as my tree guy D called Tuesday evening and said, "Hey, I know I said a week and a half til we were free, but actually I'm open tomorrow. Can we come mid-morning?" I said Sure, thinking that my meeting with the landscape designer D would be done before Tree People arrived.
Ha ha. The tree-work crew arrived at 8:30; lead Tree Guy D arrived at 8:55; landscape designer D arrived at 9 as scheduled. What was kind of delightful, though, is that landscape designer D (who specializes in native and environmentally friendly plantings) smiled in approval when he saw who was working. "These are the best guys in town, they're the guys I recommend," and then D and D went into a short bro-conversation about beer and composting. (Not together.)
Landscape designer D has come up with something really great (more than I expected for the budget) and literally cheered when I told him I liked succulents in the garden. You had to be there, I guess. Meanwhile, Tree Guy D not only artfully and scientifically made my cherry laurel safer for hurricane seaon, he also trimmed a neighbor's oak branch that was touching my house and then took his helper and went into the back to clear like a freakin' whirlwind.
Only problem is now that there's open space to fill in the back. I might have to find a few hundred dollars for Landscape D to work magic back there, too.
I guess if you clear, you must plant too.
May your day be full of the best clearings and plantings!
I'm glad it's all coming together. I had to look up what succulents and a cherry laurel looked like :) I've asked my mom to do my flower bed, so there might be hope that I have something pretty-ish in my yard.
Oh YAY for your mom doing your flower bed! That's the way to outsource. :)
Cheers for your Friday, too!

"I guess if you clear, you must plant too."
Words of wisdom indeed.
Which I wasn't able to quote, but never mind. Happy plantings, and Happy National Tea Day!

Thank you, A! [hugs]
And I'm keeping my celebration of Tea going today. Contemplating what pot of iced tea to make!
Hooray for clearing and planting...it all sounds delightful (though of course, more expense as always...)
So much more expense. So much more.
Hope that your garage is done and gorgeous, A! Many hugs!

I wish I had witnessed that scene. I love, love, love watching people who do their jobs well. Happy Tea Day!
These guys are so great. I appreciate them and their gifts very much.
Cheers and hugs for your Friday!

Hugs hugs, L! Happy Friday.
Yay clearing and planting!
It's always best if OTHER people do both for me, too! :)
Cheers and hugs!
What kind of succulents are you looking at? I'm not so much of a succulent person- some of them kind of creep me out, but there are others that are gorgeous. And less allergy provoking, I would guess.
