|08:40 am - Combating the Down, Post #27|
For reasons half-inexplicable and half-not-needing-to-be-explored-at-this-juncture, I am rather down right now. So, instead of dwelling, I'll make a list to combat the down:
*a Publix multi-grain baton (ie. baguette-shaped bread) spread with goat cheese
*a great new Brooks Brothers blue-and-white striped shirt, purchased half-price, which makes me feel like Emmanuelle Alt when I wear it with slouchy trousers and heels
*The Night Manager and Doctor Foster waiting for this upcoming week, because mmmmm. Thank you, T Hiddleston, H Laurie, B Carvel.
*Speaking of B Carvel -- himself in a photo shoot for the Guardian, just published.(Warning, Pinterest link.) White shirt, check. Mirror, check (Y'all know I love a good photograph of a man in a mirror). Eyebrow, check. Smoulder, check.
*Speaking of beautiful men in white shirts, albeit in mood giggly -- Have a photoset of P Capaldi as Twelve and Pearl Mackie as Bill, larking about on a publicity shoot. BLESS THEM.
*I also SUPER-LOVE this photo of Sharon Horgan, done for the same Guardian shoot as B Carvel's. Firstly, the Carolina Herrera clothing combo is everything I love. Secondly, mirrors and wit! :)
*Tomorrow I get succulents in a front bed, designed and installed for me.
*Deciding what to read next. It probably will be Helen Simonson's The Summer Before the War, which I just bought at my local independent bookshop to celebrate Independent Bookshop Day.
And now I'll go walk one of my favorite nearby neighborhoods and try to combat the down by moving myself from here to there.
Cheers, and may your Sunday be full of joys.

Gorgeous photos. That one of Sharon Horgan is particularly clever.
Hope things get better soon.
Love the Horgan pic, and the way its playfulness sneaks up on a viewer! :)
Cheers and hugs to you and yours, K.
I hope next week will be better.
Me too! Hugs and a good week for YOU, mate. :)
I hope next week will provide an upswing!
Thank you! Cheers and hugs for YOUR week as well.
That book sounds like something I'd like to read, and thankfully my library has it. And bless the universe for having those batons at Publix, so easy to find.
Hope the down soon becomes an up, or at least a level...
Hurrah for libraries, Publix, and your week ahead. :)
That's a really good pic of B Carvel :)
Hope your walk helped.
It IS a good pic of B Carvel! [admires it]
I send good cheer for the start of your week. :)
Ooh, succulents and slouchy trousers...I hope they are as cheering as they sound to me.
Hugs and happy thoughts!
My succulent garden has (alas) been postponed to Thursday. But the cheering thought remains. :)
Cheers and hugs, ALH!
Capaldi and Mackie so look like they're up to something- and delighted by it and each other- that's very promising.
Succulents and a new book are good ways to start the month, and fingers crossed that May is kind to us all.
May should be kind to you, what with it being your birthday month and all!
