It is a true distressing thing that upon learning that George Michael had died, I pulled out what is possibly my favorite of his latter albums -- Older -- and realized that the record is twenty years old.
How is that even real? How is losing George Michael real? I cannot.
But we persevere. My Christmas weekend was full of baking, a visit to my dear friends' house for Champagne and dropping off of cookies, quiet, and Doctor Who. I got a stack of awesome books from my Amazon list, including English Eccentric by Ros Byam Shaw about 14 incredible homes, and I tried and failed to read Carrie Fisher's The Princess Diarist. (Once we got to her chapter on her affair with H Ford, I had to check out. It felt like the worst kind of intrusion, even though she'd written it to be read...)
Today I painted kitchen cabinets, and I count that as a win.
Will hope to write more in 2017, but for now, I lift a glass of Champagne to you all. May the light be merry!

[hugs] Dr Who was pretty adorable. Enjoy the new books, and a happy new year.
Hugs and thanks, A! And yes, the Doctor was a welcome Christmas visitor. :)
