10:45 am - This week's joys, Post #10
Oof.

Let us pass over the allergies from hell, and focus on good things:

*my tree guys came Friday and cleaned up one section of the backyard, including trimming a cherry laurel that now looks like total awesomeness and cutting back a hell-holly that was trying to kill me every time I walked by. Whee!
*Naomie Harris got an OBE and looked like a million pounds. Awesomeness.
*The reprinted Virginia Woolf short story, "In The Looking Glass," in the March Harpers Bazaar UK. First line: "People should not leave looking glasses hanging in their rooms any more than they should leave open cheque books or letters confessing some hideous crime."
*Having friends over on Wednesday and Thursday. These were, I blush to confess, the first social gatherings I've held in two years. My friends are awesome, though, and they made me happy with their presence.
*Also, Paradiso de Maria Sauvignon Blanc from Benziger. A+++.
*new ankle-strap chunky-heel black shoes.
*thinking of B Carvel for a project I'm working on.
*Dancing this morning.

By the way, these lists I've been posting don't mean I'm not horrified by the political climate at present. They're just moments to keep me going.

Anything good for you guys this week?

Elder Daughter shared pics of dolphins and of baby seals.

Please go on listing your happy things, they help me remember my own. Politics are overwhelming, and I need breaking out of that avalanche of misery.

Your new shoes sound awesome! And hurray for the other good things on your list!

I've just discovered The Bridge (Bron|Broen), a Scandinavian crime series. I just binge-watched the entire first season, and am now starting on season two (there are three full seasons on Netflix, but there is going to be a fourth and final season soon). If you haven't seen the show yet, I highly recommend it.

Cheers and hugs for you!

I haven't been watching much TV, but I'll note this recommendation. :)

Hugs twice!

New shoes sound awesome!

I keep hope that maybe the snow will stop here. I'm done with it and would like to move onto a different (any different) season now :)

I suspect that spring is still a couple of months away for you guys, but in this year of change, who knows. ;)

Cheers for your Monday and the week ahead!

I love ankle straps. Which I think I may have mentioned a time or two.

My good thing coming up is that tomorrow is the end of a thing I volunteered for. The report will still have to be written, but for all intents and purposes it's over. And with any luck, from now on I will remember to ask questions before agreeing to things.

So late in replying, ack!

Ankle-strap shoes are the best. Also, I don't fall out of them. :)

YAY for being at the end of a volunteer obligation! Freedom!

[hugs]
