|08:38 am - Snapshot (Reprise)|
The subtropics are cold-mist grey this morning -- English precipitation, the kind of not quite rain that for me all but conjures an umbrella out of a stand and opens the front door to saunter and possibility.
The Dog of the House, who isn't always a fan of rain rain, just this once shared my willingness to be out in the cold and grey. In fact, as I put on my walking shoes, she circled my ankles in a mad cheerful rush. When I went to get my jacket, she followed, barking. "Coat! Coat! COAT!" I'll probably have a slight bruise on my calf from her efficiently herding me toward where her leash hangs.
Once out, we ran the first tenth of a mile. The Dog of the House snapped at the mist as we galloped.
No one else was at the park. (Rain. Cold-mist-grey.) The Dog of the House slowed, once there, and began to circle my ankles again. She seemed pleasantly anxious, her big ears flicking as if to catch a sound I couldn't.
The umbrella blocked my side-view for a moment, but of course I knew what should be across the street from the park: houses, fences, an out of place collection of cacti, a pile of old oak leaves, cars.
The Dog of the House barked once, then began to trot. I righted my umbrella as we rushed forward, looked to the side --
And saw a blue police box, full-size, parked haphazardly in a driveway.
The Dog of the House flicked her ears again, as if she could hear a Gallifreyan hum I couldn't, and then began to run in that cold-mist grey, that English precipitation so out of place.
The blue police box shimmered in the not quite rain as we passed. When I looked back from the corner, I couldn't see it any more. Perhaps it was just the mist.
Oooh. Glad you and the DoH didn't decide to get into it and leave us all behind...
The Dog of the House would not enjoy time travel, I feel certain. ;-)
Thanks, and a good Saturday!

Oh, neat. You do the loveliest little story-gems.
The thing is, this actually happened. There actually is a replica-TARDIS in a driveway one street over. Who knows why? ;-)
Happy Saturday, with color and joy!

Are you sure it's a replica? What fun!
Would you have gotten in? With her? Without her?
Well, I don't know how kindly the neighbor would treat someone climbing into his/her blue police box...
(There really is one, a street over.)
More seriously: with the Dog of the House, no. By myself... probably not. And you?
Happy Saturday, with tea and respite!

Very nice, I like the imagery :)
Thank you thank you! I did play up the description (but there is, in fact, a blue police box sitting in a driveway, one street over ;-)).
Happy Saturday to you and yours!
and even better that htere's an actual Brit Police Box in your neighborhood...sounds like neighbors your might like to know.
Enjoy the cold-mist gray weekend, virtual or otherwise!
Thanks, ALH. :-)
I think it might be slightly odd to knock on their door and say, "Oooh a TARDIS!", but I am probably just being too shy. ;-)
Happy Saturday, with yarn!

It's just so random! But yes, coolness too. :-)
Happy happy Saturday, L!
Ask him if Bonnie and I can come too! After all, who would make better companions than a corgi and a retriever? And the people who love them? *g*
**hugs** And thanks for that.
Hee -- I'm pretty sure the Dog of the House would not take to time travel. She likes her routine, does the Dog of the House. ;-)
Good thoughts and hugs and a good Saturday-into-Sunday!

I wonder which Doctor was inside? :-)
It's a question, isn't it! ;-)
[sends hugs and good-Saturday thoughts]
It would be SO COOL to have a TARDIS sitting in one's driveway... In an English mist!
*squee* What a lovely morning walk!
It was a cool thing to see!
Happy Sunday to you and yours, with lots of surprising (and good) adventures. :-)
I was going to totally wreck the mood and suggest that it might have been a blue port-a-potty instead. But that would be wrong.
Enjoy the grey! We have blue sky, but COLD.
I would say then that every port-a-potty should have POLICE CALL BOX written on its sides, with the white paper covering where the phone should be. ;-)
I send hopes for warmth and continued blue skies, plus a wonderful Sunday!
A beautiful snapshot indeed. I must think of something to write today.
Thanks! And happy writing, whatever you think of!
[sends good-Sunday thoughts]
