Now my charms are all o'erthrown,
And what strength I have's mine own,
Which is most faint. Now 'tis true
I must be here confined by you
Or sent to Naples. Let me not,
Since I have my dukedom got,
And pardoned the deceiver, dwell
In this bare island by your spell;
But release me from my bands
With the help of your good hands.
Gentle breath of yours my sails
Must fill, or else my project fails,
Which was to please. Now I want
Spirits to enforce, art to enchant;
And my ending is despair
Unless I be relieved by prayer,
Which pierces so, that it assaults
Mercy itself, and frees all faults.
As you from crimes would pardoned be,
Let your indulgence set me free.
Happy Shakespeare's Day!
Happy Shakespeare Day back atcha!
::Waves from Ashland where, oddly, we aren't seeing an Shakespeare this trip::
How strange to not see Shakespeare at Ashland!--
But how cool to be at Ashland, anyway. :-))
The only one currently playing is Hamlet and I've seen enough Hamelt for several more years.....
But the West Coast Premeiere of "Ruined" by Lynn Nottage (outstandding but seriously disturbing) and a play within a play within a play by Lisa Kron, called "Well."
Thanks for the Ruined notes! It just opened in London too, and I was intrigued.

And Happy St George's Day, too, L!
Lovely! Hugs to you on this beautiful Friday.
Happy Shakespeare's Day to you, C!
From one of my favorite plays! Hugs, and enjoy the weather (unless you're getting too much of it.)
It's too hot already, but we persevere -- and The Tempest is always a good coping strategy. ;-)
Thanks for posting on your LJ the reminder to post in honor of the day! :-) Happy weekend to you!
Happy Shakespeare's Day, Lori!!
Happy weekend too, Gwynne! :-)
And, belatedly, to you. Happy weekend!
Happy weekend to you, SC! :-)
And this one is so you!
It was Will-day! :-)
(And yes, magic, forgiveness, acting -- all My Stuff. ;-))
