|10:07 am - Cool Down in A Heat Wave|
The subtropics are v.v. hot right now -- as if it were late May, early June, rather than mid-April. It's not quite the full horror of July and August, since this morning did dip below 70 degrees... but my turtle-ish walk/run this morning has left me red-faced and steaming, even after my much needed shower.
So let's think about Cool Things as I cool down:
*bare feet on cool wood floor
*the kick of bergamot in my iced Earl Grey
*The Ines thing, via The Daily Telegraph
*finishing a chilled bottle of Benziger Estate Paradiso de Maria Sauv Blanc last night, after a happy week of a glass a night
*strawberries! The first strawberries!
*a hint of north wind even in this hideous hot morning
*thinking about other people's gardens (I have weeds and sneezes)
*grey against green
*dreaming about old Liberty patterns and the sweet fade of floral in a modern world
*my room fans, slowly slowly turning to mimic the world
What are your Cool Things today? May there be many!

I like your list, and I could use a few cool things today myself. For now, I'm starting with doing as little as possible.
Hurrah for starting the day so well! Hope it continues fine. :-))

[shares strawberries with you, virtually]
ooh, nice ceiling fan image. My cool thing for today: um.....well, I have a chilled bottle of water here. Oh! And I'm about ready to go paint the gazebo so as to train grapevines up it. That in itself, I admit, is not cooling. However, AFTER the painting, I'll be taking the first outdoor shower of the season (which will be chilly) and then settling down with icy champagne under the patio umbrella.
But really? OMG HOT.
OMG so HOT. But your coping mechanisms sound lovely, esp the Champagne!
The cool of a "99" ice cream (soft swirly vanilla in a wafer cone with a Cadbury's "99 Flake" stick of chocolate in it, while cool breezes blew through the cafe at the beach. :-)
The cool of crisp, smooth, clean cotton sheets on a warm night.

A dog lying on a cool tiled floor.
Mmmm, ice cream and the beach! And, of course, dogs on cool floors. :-)
[hugs and good cheer]
Very nice cool things. It's starting to get warm (actual warm, not the fake less-cold we've had so far this year) so we'll probably cool off with icy drinks on the front porch.
Hurrah for icy drinks on the porch, and hurrah for spring in the north. :-)
Rainkatt! I send you ten degrees of warmth, because OMG can we in the subtropics spare it. ;-)
[hugs and blankets]
I wore a gray-against-green dress yesterday, which I guess counts as a cool thing! Also a cool thing: the angel hair pasta with kale and heirloom tomatoes I'm planning to make for dinner.
That dress WOULD be a Cool Thing, and your dinner sounds perfect for your Sunday. :-) Hugs and joy, Gwynne!
Oh, dear. And here I was, all excited to be able to wear sandals and open windows for the first time in months!
I send you a glass of sangria over ice, and a cool breeze to sit in while drinking it and watching the sunset.
You *definitely* should enjoy your warm day with sandals and open windows! :-)
Thanks for your excellent suggestions -- may your week be lovely!
Earl Grey is the BEST for iced tea.
We have sun, but not nearly enough after a couple more days of mixed sun/hail/snowflakes and yet more sun with cool breeze. Still, we sat outside for breakfast under the falling flower petals (elderly fruit tree of unknown type) yesterday, so spring is making an effort!
We'll cheerfully relieve you of a few more excess degrees though.
Hugs and hooray for strawberries!
[offers more Earl Grey]
I will definitely send five degrees your way, too, after I send warmth to Rainkatt. :-))
Hugs and joys, ALH, and sun!
I envy you your early strawberries, although we did get the most glorious weather for walking this weekend.
It was far too hot for walking here in the subtropics (past 8:30 am, anyway), so you have a definite Cool Thing there. :-)

Hugs and joys, L! And a good week too.
