|12:45 pm - Ten Things (Brought to you by July 10 and OMG sinus headache)|
Dropping by to say the following:
*At the moment my sinus headache is throbbing so much that tomorrow there will likely be news stories about inexplicable seismic activity in the subtropics.
*However, I cannot blame the headache for the Idiocy of the Day: upon arriving at our front door after the Dangerous Dog and I completed our morning constitutional, I, um, forgot which dog I'd been walking, and absentmindedly removed his leash and collar as I always did with the Small Blonde Dog.
*Thankfully, he didn't run away, but just looked at me like "Woman, are you crazy?"
*Possibly, I say to the Dangerous Dog. Possibly.
*There is something incredibly dispiriting about someone writing a story one would theoretically eat up with a spoon but the story Fails to Satisfy, falling just short on every point.
*There is something incredibly dispiriting about summer in the subtropics. I think I have a Heat-Aversion type of seasonal affective disorder.
*Except I do love blueberries, that perfect summer fruit.
*And water with ice and lemon.
*Lastly, today's thought, brought to you by Dorothy L Sayers (this, the opening of Have His Carcase): The best remedy for a bruised heart is not, as so many people seem to think, repose upon a manly bosom. Much more efficacious are honest work, physical activity, and the sudden acquisition of wealth.
May you have all good remedies in the next few days!

That is the worst. Worse than a really bad story.
I keep tripping over such stories, C, and it's unhappy-making. (It is, of course, worse when I'm the one writing it, but over that let us draw a veil.)
Enjoy your PNW cool summer! :)

Sends hugs and cooling breezes.
Thanks, pal. Right now I'm hoping for a thunderstorm. :)
Cheers and a lovely London summer for you!
Sayers gets it right as usual! Esp. sudden acquisition of wealth--not that I know from experience...
Hope some cool breezes come your way!

Me either, but I have an excellent imagination. :)
Cheers and a lovely summer experience for you!

[hugs and hopes for clear sinuses ahead]
Good on the Dangerous Dog!
The Dangerous Dog (who is hanging out behind the desk) thanks you for admiring his restraint. :)
Cheers and hugs to you!
:hugs: Keep thinking of the positive: functioning a/c. Cool iced tea. (Blueberry tea?) Sudden acquisitions of wealth. And so on.
In my own life it's more the sudden de-acquisition of savings, but oh well.
Cheers and a delightful Thursday, F!
I would settle for the sudden acquisition of two new tires. Even new used tires would be looked on favorably.
I would also accept a cherry sno-cone.
If there's a Sonic nearby, a cherry slush might be an adequate substitute for a sno-cone.... But I know that the heart wants what it wants.
Alas, you need new tires! [sends hopes of tires and hugs]
Humid heat is very dispiriting, I find!
But blueberries are excellent.
Happy travels, Gwynne, and no humid heat! :) [hugs]
I hope your headache clears up soon. Hugs to you.
Thank you, T, and hugs and a delightful Thursday to you!
Oh, dear, oh dear. Foully dispririting, even, as the dreadful Rose Fairweather of Miss Thirkell's delightfully silly books would have it.
But yes, Miss Sayers puts it perfectly.
hugs and wishes for a headache-free rest of week.
Today is just uncontrollable sneezing, so.... er, it's better! Sort of! [beams]
Hugs to you, ALH, and cheers and good novels. :)
