04:47 pm - One eye open, one eye shut
Lo, the sinus headache continues apace, now with additional swelling 'round one eye. Attractive!

But we move onward. Thank you all for kind commiserations re seemingly doomed hard drive. The dedicated youngster at the local computer shop managed to figure out how to transfer the contents of my old hard drive after all! (It apparently involved incantations, spelunking, and the sacrifice of M&Ms? Or maybe that's just what I got from his explanation.)

The current issue is that I've long forgotten the router password -- router purchased from the same local shop, btw -- but they no longer do housecalls. So, er, looks like I'm calling the cable guys to get a router and setup from them. (I know how to hit the reset button to clear the old password on my current router. I just don't know how to set up a new one, in part because the online instructions require information about my router I don't have. Lalala.)

Anyhoo, we persevere. Sinus meds are a go. Two more meetings today, including the volunteer thing tonight which I can't skip.

Er, do I know anything interesting? Anything worth this posting-every-day lark? Well, um.... no. But I'll try to think of something for tomorrow's posting. If you have any suggestions for stuff you'd like to read, pls leave them in the comments.

Cheers! Joy! Onward! And may you work through all your problems today.

Cheers! Joy! Onward! Excelsior?

*hugs* and I hope the sinus meds prove quick and effective. I'm drained. I declared today a mostly-nothing day, just the required chores and a bit of pottering with the current project, which needed rethinking after I broke an essential component. Fortunately, there was a Plan B.

I'm sorry you're drained -- hope the rest-and-recovery day has helped!

So far the sinus headache is still here, but weaker. I take that as a win.

Hugs and a great Thursday evening, Gwynne!

Ouch for the sinus headache, but yay for the hard drive recovery.

When my beloved got his laptop he asked me what the router password was... a lot of tetchiness ensued before I finally managed to get his laptop on the network. I think I reset the password about six times. I hope you don't have to do that!

I have EVERY sympathy with you! You are a wizard to have managed it, though perhaps not in a Merlin way. :)

Hugs, joy, tea!

Ah, router hell. In Chicago I finally had to give up on having a password because it would neither let me change it nor accept the correct one (which for once I had written down! and could find!) That makes me very nervous except that we have 2-foot walls (old building) and it's just about impossible to get into somebody else's wifi there (I tried...).

So sorry about the headache. Seems like modern medicine should have a way to do something about sinus events, but noooo (sinuses and routers must come from the same dimenion)...Hope you feel better soon.

Router hell! A scourge of our times!

My local computer guy said to me, "Well, I can tell you how to reset the router so it's an open connection...."

I said sarcastically, "So you think that's safe for online banking?"

He almost choked, and then said very rapidly, "Yeah well no."

But my house is not as well-protected, I know, as your place.

Hugs and a good Friday!

My open one is in Chicago--don't use it for banking! But probably still leaves me vulnerable. Evil choice--no connection or dangerous connection.

Hope your connections are all good now!
