|04:17 pm - So, anyway....|
There are few more quotidian pains than thinking happily to oneself, "It is hot hot HOT and as soon as I get home I'm changing out of my work clothes into something loose and casual," and then realizing that ho! there's a work-thing at 7 pm!
I'll still change clothes, though. Just not quite as downmarket as otherwise planned. Good boots and maybe a statement necklace should be enough, surely.
Thanks to the flu shot and an oncoming
storm cold front, my system is not happy today. I'll blame my torpor and my jeans on that, if anyone asks me at the event. Or possibly I'll fall asleep in the middle of the event. That'll show 'em.
Before then, I'll do some work, and possibly peruse the September issue of W (aka The Who, What, Where, When, and Why in the world of style) which came in the mail today. It isn't actually something I WANTED but when my goddaughter was selling magazines to benefit her school, this was the least objectionable of the choices. Fashion, I thought. Clothes, I thought.
But it is immediately clear to me that I am not the reader for W, which has a sort of Terry Richardson aesthetic I can't quite handle. Maybe I'll leaf through it before putting it in the recycling, and then turn back to Harper's Bazaar UK, where editor Justine Picardie writes fascinating articles about Schiaparelli and name-drops Capability Brown in her Editor's Letter, where I genuinely find some of the articles and fashion shoots 'aspirational' (that somewhat silly word so often cited re fashion mags).
Maybe I'll lie on the floor with Master Danger and think deep thoughts. One needs loose casual clothes for that. ;)
May you find what you need today!

May you get to lie down soon.
I fear it's an impossible dream. ;)
Happy Tuesday-into-Wednesday, L! Hugs!
We have cooler weather today! I hope you will have some soon!
Fifteen degrees cooler by Thursday, they say. But they lie so often!
[hugs hugs] Happy Tuesday, Gwynne!
Good luck with fashion and beating the heat!
I will have to try to be fashionable tomorrow, because it's not happening this evening. [sigh]
Autumn joys to you, K! [hugs]
I hope the weather breaks and you have a chance to cool off soon.
Tonight, the forecasters promise! [sigh]
Cheers, T, and a happy start to your day. :)
I'll try to send some of this cool front your way, but gently and without the pollen.
The new Vogue arrived at the library today, and there was a pretty garden thing toward the back. I imagined myself there all afternoon.
I saw that your town looked like it was having good weather. So that's at least something to enjoy, as is imagining oneself in a garden!
[hugs and more garden thoughts]
How fun are those?! Delightful. :)
Here's hoping you and Master Danger had a lovely lie down after work social responsibilities were fulfilled (here's me, late as usual but breathlessly trying to keep up!)
I am so behind on LJ, but I just wanted to say that I share your opinion of W. It just has nothing to do with real people in the real world, to me -- not that any fashion mag does, really, but W just seems to be in abstract bizarro world. And I hate Terry Richardson, for all the reasons, and I don't understand why he's getting work at all. Well, I do -- sex sells and sadly ethics don't seem to come into play in the fashion/celebrity world (not to mention the rest of the world).
