|09:48 am - In the Continuing Adventures of Master Danger and Miss Grace....|
Well, that little jaunt outside was problematic.
A few minutes ago Master Danger indicated rather strongly that he would like to go outside in the backyard for Business Reasons. I clipped him on the leash and took him out in the brisk morning air to the back fence, where he sniffed and completed the Business for which he had requested the outing. I took a deep breath of woodsmoke-scented air -- a neighbor has lit her wood stove, because to subtropical denizens it is cold -- and turned to come back inside.
Here came my tragic flaw, my hubris. I decided that we would sprint back to the backdoor and thence inside. (Blame it on the woodsmoke, the perfect blue sky, the sweats I'm wearing. Blame it on Master Danger's dancing at my feet.)
So, anyway, we took off running full-out. The young master was INTO IT, I must tell you, and we'd made it to the concrete walkway when the Thing happened.
The evil pit bull on my east, who barks at Master Danger and me whenever we go outside even though he's behind a privacy fence and can't see us, barked aggressively.
Master Danger, rendered even more butch by the running, decided he'd go over and challenge the pit bull right back -- and so he ran in front of me. It was a perfect tackle, and BAM. I fell hard.
Luckily I broke my fall with my hand, and although I got a serious jolt all up my right arm, the only result will be a bruise covering the heel of my hand. But still.
Let us all cross our fingers that Master Danger mellows soon.
May your day be free from jolts and spills!
Oh ouch! I'm glad that you're okay.
Both of us are okay, really (he has a bruise where my shins connected with his side). It's a Dangerous world. ;)

Ouch, poor budgie!
Thank you, A. We have mostly both recovered, so our day continues. :)
Hugs and good things to you!

Ouch! Glad you managed to break your fall. I can see that challenges from Evil Pit Bulls are hard to ignore but Master Danger should take more care of you.
Master Danger somehow missed the memo that he is to take care of me. A less nurturing dog I have never seen. ;)
(He is unnecessarily protective, on the other hand, so there's that.)
Hugs, K, and stay safe in the wind that's coming your way!
This sounds much too much like something I would do, indeed have done.
Do not ignore the damage you can do to your hand by falling on it; take care of the bruise, and wrap it/wear a glove if it's hurting you.
Thank you, Julia, and hugs sent your way for a hard autumn.
Yikes! The dangerous dog lives up to his name once again! May he mellow soon. (and FWIW I know someone who ended up with a fractured wrist as a result of a bolting dog, so - be careful!)
You know, with cindercat the worst I have to deal with is hairballs. ;-)
The Dangerous One makes me very glad indeed that I get enough calcium and do enough weight-bearing exercise to strengthen my bones. But I was thinking today, as I sat on the ground, that the dog I have after Master Danger will likely be my last, and s/he will have to be MUCH LESS DANGEROUS. ;)
We are happy to put Cindercat's hairballs in perspective. :)
Fingers crossed that it's only a bruise. I will not jinx you by supposing lingering after effects.
Hugs and a restful rest of day!
Some hours later, it's sore but not incapacitating. We persevere. :)
Hugs hugs to you, ALH!
Ouch! Oh, Master Danger...
He is Dangerous. That's all that can be said. ;)
Hugs, Gwynne, and a good evening.

ow! I hope Master Danger was suitably chastised by the outcome of his antics, but somehow I doubt it...
He shook it off immediately. Because he is Master Danger. ;)
Hugs and a good evening!

Ouch. If your wrist carries on hurting you should get that x-rayed though.
Actually my shoulder muscles are sore, so I'll be taking a hot bath later and possibly doing some stretches. But otherwise I'm fine.
Hugs, and stay safe from the wind!
He's a challenge, he really is. :)
Happy start to your week (and stay safe from the winds!).
My goodness! I'm glad you're okay.
Life with Master Danger is literally one of ups and downs. :)
Cheers, Chase! Happy Monday.
Oh, no! Ice, lots of ice! and maybe it wouldn't hurt to get it checked. So glad it wasn't worse.
I was really lucky -- it's nothing. Whee! :)
Cheers to you, and a good Monday.
Damn, have a virtual ice pack and some of my painkillers. ((Hugs))
It's not bad enough for painkillers, but I do appreciate the thought. You're the kindest. :)
[hugs] Happy Monday!
Yikes!! I'm so glad it wasn't worse, L. But it sounds bad enough. :(
Those pits on the other side of you? Are a Problem.
He's just back from his (already scheduled) vet visit, and both of us are fine, if bruised. :)
Cheers for your Monday!
I could feel you thinking 'at our age', though. ;))
Thanks, L, hugs, and a great Monday!
