|06:02 pm - Things I do not expect to see upon arriving home from work....|
....Three police cars, lights flashing, in my front yard; a green utility vehicle in my driveway, doors open; a thin white woman in a flannel shirt, handcuffed and leaning against the utility vehicle.
I pull up on the last un-police-car-occupied bit of yard and get out, trying not to visibly freak. I'd just come from work! I'd only been gone ninety minutes (after my lunch at home)! WHAT WHAT WHAT.
A young police officer walks over to me. "Um, I live here?" I say.
He smiles, the gentle reassuring smile of a man talking to a freaked-out woman of a certain age. "Sorry, this has nothing to do with your house, it's fine. This is just where we pulled this woman over. We'll be gone as soon as we can."
"Okay, great!" I say, quelling the urge to babble out confessions of the times I've jaywalked, the occasions where Master Danger has taken three dumps on his walk and I've only had disposal bags enough for two. I don't run to my front door, but it's very close.
Master Danger is lying in his crate, sulky-quiet, eyes on the curtained front window. 'I coulda barked, but I'm a good dog. I hate being a good dog.' I let him out of his crate, and then sit down on the floor and exhale hard.
So that's the capper to my day. Hope that yours has been better!
Yikes! What a thing to come home to!
It was no fun at all! But no harm either.
Cheers and hugs to you, Gwynne.

What a dramatic and rather scary thing to come home to!
*hugs to you and a cautious pat for Master Danger*
I don't recommend it at all, truly, but no harm done. :)
Cheers, K! Hope you've stayed safe in the weather and hope you have a lovely Wednesday!
That is creepy. I guess you've had your Halloween trick early--hope it's all treats from now on!
If that had happened to me, they'd probably have added another emergency vehicle by calling the ambulance for my panic attack...
Thank you, and I too am hoping for no tricks for the rest of the week. ;)
Happy Wednesday! May you have lots of treats!
Wow, how's that for an exciting scene to come home to?
I do not have the time for excitement, C! ;)
Hugs and a great day.

Very scary, but luckily the scare was short-lived. :)
Hugs and a great Wednesday, L!
Whew! No fun at all!
And bless Master Danger for not contributing his mite to the general excitement.
Here we are breathing a deep sigh of relief for shipping out the books for the Houston show next week and having a couple of days before we have to do the same for Boston the following week. Once again I wonder why we do this to ourselves?
But yay, autumn roared in yesterday with all kinds of rain and cooling temps! Hope you are having the same soon (without, you know, hurricane-force winds in attendance).
Master Danger was remarkably good. But he generally is good in his crate....
Yay for shipping out books and for preparations well in hand! And I hope the upcoming trip is awesome. :)
Hugs and autumn and good travels ahead.

Eep. Breathe, dear, breathe. I'm so glad you and Master Danger and your home and all are okay. *hugs L fiercely*
We made it through just fine -- it was more passing storm than real threat. But still, eep indeed!
Hugs and a good day. :)
Oh, my goodness. So unsettling! I hope you had some calming tea ready to hand.
It was not a happy-making thing, but no harm done. Alas, I didn't have time for tea....
Happy Wednesday! See you later. :)

Master Danger was a good boy!!
Hugs and wishes for a less eventful day :)
Master Danger was good indeed. It's nice to see that he can be. :)
Hugs, tea, and a good Wednesday!
Master Danger sounds so cute when he's unamused. I'm glad there wasn't anything wrong at your house.
Master Danger is always cute -- but Dangerous. :)
Hugs and a great day, T!
Yikes! I live on a busy but typically event free road. However, when the events occur, the front of my house is where stuff happens. I relate to having the police all over my yard for nothing that has anything to do with me.
Yikes in retrospect for you! Hugs hugs, JH. :)
Not fun at all, but no harm done.
Happy day, Stevie!
My goodness, what a shocking scene to come home to! Glad to hear that Master Danger behaved himself, despite the chaos.
Master Danger and I actually had an errand to run while it was still going on, so he went out (on the leash) into the madness of police etc, and he was freaked but relatively well-behaved. So there's that. :)
Cheers and hugs to you!
Yikes. Police freak me out. Especially in America, where authority is not to be trusted in this day and age.
In Seattle, you can actually get arrested for jaywalking. I do it anyway, because I'm just rebellious like that. It just seems so silly. But I check for police first!
I'm glad nothing happened and your day continued peacefully. ((Hugs))
I wonder about jaywalking here, too, but the police seem relatively cool with it. Still.... Yikes.
(From the police event log, it looks like the woman in question had allegedly tried to shoplift, been followed, and then revealed to have a warrant out for her arrest for previous crimes. So, well, there we are.)
