|07:13 pm - Passing by with a random question|
Hi! It's still this week! [face-plant]
Anyhoo, this is apropos of nothing, but....Yesterday it was announced that Victor Garber will play Ichabod Crane's dad on an upcoming episode of Sleepy Hollow.
My squee could not be textually rendered. Spy Daddy!
The thing is, I don't follow Mr Garber's work necessarily -- I didn't watch Eli Stone, for instance -- but I have such an enormous residual fondness for him and his work, and I'm always happy to see him. There are other actors (male and female) who make me happy this way --either of the Glenisters (Robert or Phillip), for example. Adrian Lester. Juliet Stevenson. In classic Hollywood, I think of Miriam Hopkins, or in slightly less classic Hollywood, Tony Randall.
What about you? Are there actors or actresses whose work makes you happy, even if you're not fannishly inclined to follow their career?
And may you find random delights this mid-week!
Oh, no doubt! There are actors/actresses that I will follow anywhere.
John Hurt! I was going to say that I am actually fannish about him, but until the new Doctor Who I probably hadn't seen the past five or more films he was in, so I guess he counts. :-)

Oh, yes, he shows up so little that I forget until I see him, but definitly John Hurt!
I don't know -- I do associate you with being fannish about JHurt. :)
Cheers and hugs, Gwynne!
Did you see Coz on the Daily Show? Or on his special?
So sad, really. Our heroes are getting old.
I have avoided Cosby these days, much as I've loved him in the past. :(

Oh, definitely. Timothy Hutton, Mark Sheppard, Nathan Fillion, Judi Dench, Diana Rigg...
A great list! I am actually crazy about both Dame Diana and Dame Judi, but they work so much that I don't see everything they're in. :)
Thanks for playing, A! Hugs!
There are certain actors that I'll give more leeway to for sure. But even if my most favourite actor was in something like a straight-up (boring) drama I'd take a pass. Genre trumps actor for me.
I will avoid some kinds of drama too. [nods]
Hope your Wednesday is a fun one, T! [hugs]
Tony Randall was awesome. I used to watch the David Letterman show just in case he would run onto the set.
Having just finished season three of Boardwalk Empire, it turns out I like Steve Buscemi, but I can't imagine being fannish about him.
And possibly Elizabeth Taylor- I've never watched a movie just because she's in it, like I have with a lot of other actresses, but the ones I've seen that she's been in were awfully good.
TCM has been showing some of the Doris Day/Rock Hudson sex comedies, and I've been reminded how delightful T Randall was. :)
Do you know, I've not seen many films with Taylor -- but she was awesome in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.

I've added another actor - Ben Nelson of Primeval and Death in Paradise, the which I got to watch again this evening. I think I've hooked the Husband on it, too. Alas, there are only two short seasons, but still, it's fun, and he does a lovely fish-out-of-water.
I'd like to see Death in Paradise, if only for Don Warrington (who played the Commissioner, according to IMDB) -- DW is another one of the actors I love, thanks to Manchild. :)
Well, there are actors I love to watch act, and actors I just love to look at. ;) For acting: Ewan McGregor, Chitewel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Don Cheadle, Billy Crudup, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Amy Adams, Viola Davis. Tom Hiddleston is making his way on to that list. So is Aaron Paul. Johnny Depp has fallen off it. Then there is an actress whom everyone loves but I actively dislike: Sandra Bullock. I apparently dislike her so much I needed to put her in a special category. :)
This is a wonderful and comprehensive list, and I like all the women on it. :)
Cheers and more fun things to watch, my friend. [hugs]
Cate Blanchett is everything I would like to be. :) I find Viola Davis riveting and I feel like she should be a star at the level of, well the other women on my list. If she wasn't a woman of color she would have Meryl Streep's career. Especially considering she acted rings around Streep in the movie "Doubt".

Oh, actors and actresses who make me happy. What a great question and we have some overlap :)
Here we go - Robert Glenister (a little bit more than Phillip), Adrian Lester (who we've been following since the early 1990s), Rory Kinnear (travelling up the list very fast), Dame Judi (need I say more), Dame Diana Rigg (though more for hubby than me), Anna Maxwell Martin (a Dame in the making), Lawrence Fox (gorgeous in Lewis), Emilia Fox (so beautiful), Nathan Fillion (old style smoothness and wit), David Tennant (possibly I'm fannish about him but I don't necessarily watch everything) and perhaps I'd better stop there. Let's just say I'm quite fond of many actors and actresses :)
An excellent list! I am enjoying Rory Kinnear, too, and I'd like to see more of Anna Maxwell Martin, who so impressed me in Bleak House, and Emilia Fox. And I'm rather fannish about David Tennant. :)
Thanks for adding such great names, K! :) Hugs and a good Wednesday.

Suddenly I want to revisit selected episodes of Alias. :)
