|08:31 am - A couple of style notes|
Note the First: If even the Sartorialist is snapping pictures of women in sneakers, we are truly in a new age of flats and trainers. Wheee!
(Well, it's fashion. "New age" might last a few months.)
I will say, however, that very high heels, which I've often appreciated for the line and beauty even if I knew I wouldn't wear them, look somehow wrong to me now. They seem more precarious than I want to be. I want to be able to move, to run across streets, to leap obstacles in a single bound. Ines de la Fressange looks like that to me, as does the very cool style blogger That's Not My Age.
I guess that means I'll have to wear my silver brogues today. Onward!
Note the Second: In the Telegraph, Lisa Armstrong talks about what 1970s Kate Bush meant in style terms to her as a teen. Delightful. :)
May you sing and dance your way through today, whatever shoes you're wearing. :)

Bally brown ankle boots with a square heel and big sole:)
Totally runable in.
(It's almost too late in the season for boots here, alas. I do wear cowboy boots in the summer, but somehow riding boots seem a boot too far. ;))
I love flats and trainers. Everyone should be wearing them, then I wouldn't look out of place :)
I think you'll actually have a season where everyone will! :)
Cheers and a good evening, T.
Flat olive suede & patent leather Boden boots! :-)
YAY! I am also wearing Boden today, but not cool boots. :)
Black on black Converse hightops and while I'm not sure I'd ever wear an animal print sneaker, I know for sure I want a pair.
while I'm not sure I'd ever wear an animal print sneaker, I know for sure I want a pair.
Animal-print sneakers would be TOTALLY wearable! And how cute are they, really... :)
Cheers and hugs!
I haven't worn a heel higher than an inch in 10 years...love it.
SO MANY cute flats this season! :)
Cheers and hugs, ALH.
