|06:06 pm - What I'm....|
I believe it was Internet style pioneer the Manolo who did his Tuesday "What I'm..." posts. Rebel that I am, I'll do one of these posts today. :)
What I'm Reading:
One Man's Folly: The Exceptional Homes of Furlow Gatewood. From the Introduction, written by the book's author Julia Reed, about the first morning of her first visit to the Americus, Georgia home of Furlow Gatewood:
When I awoke on that first morning, I was scarcely prepared for what I saw - and what you are about to discover on these pages. As artist and decorative painter Bob Christian says about the Barn, the place is "a visual feast." But it's hardly the only one. The grounds hold one architectural surprise after another: the Peacock House, the Cuthbert House, the Lumpkin House, and a succession of jewel-box-like outbuildings. The most astonishing thing of all is that with the exception of the Barn, the whole compound has been assembled and landscaped with the last ten years, while Furlow was in his eighties."
What I've Been Watching:
"Emma Approved," the Pemberley Digital webseries which is a modern-day adaptation of Austen's Emma. I've raved about it before, but if you haven't checked in yet, they're on hiatus until June. You have time to catch up! :)
(And if you are watching, the most delicious thing: apparently Joanne Sotomura (who plays Emma) and Brent Bailey (who plays the best Knightley evah) are actually dating in real life. The cuteness is off the freakin' charts.)
What I'll Be Watching Tonight:
Wings of Desire or the Alfred Hitchcock Rebecca. (Mine is a George Sanders Appreciation Lyfe, y'all.)
What I'm Listening To:
Prince, New Order, the Police, Anita Baker. Not all at the same time.
(And for some reason, Shakira's song "Empire", because it's just whacked-out anthemic in the best way.)
So what about y'all? :)
Cheers, and may your weekend give you stuff you love.

What I'm (re)reading: Discworld books, in order by character of interest, because my brain hurts. So far, I've done the witches, Sam and Sybil Vimes and the Watch, and I'm working on Death and Susan.
What I'm reading or am about to read: Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine, and No Ordinary Time, Doris Kearns Goodwin's book on Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. Again, brain hurts, so I'm working up to those.
What I'll probably be watching tonight: the Castle from Monday last, with Husband and Younger Daughter. After that, probably whatever howler is on the Siffy channel.
What I'm listening to: Earlier today, Car Talk. Now, the local TV news, while I read. And... one yowling tortiecat, who wants Out Now.
Have a good evening and a pleasant tomorrow. *hugs*

Yep. I let her out the front door. Five minutes later, she came into the patio through the little door cut under the gate and wanted to come in the patio door. She's done that three times already this afternoon. I think it's three; it may be more, I've lost count.
In all fairness, it's so windy that the birds are hanging onto branches instead of hopping around on the ground like proper cat entertainment, but still, the schtick is getting old.
Mop will ask to have the faucet turned on, take one sip, leave. I turned it off. She's back, wanting it on. Rinse and repeat any number of times.
We solved the in/out problem with a cat door, but then possums and raccoons began to visit...
I caught most of Castle -- I hope you enjoy. :)
And hugs for reading, brain recovery, and noisy cats!
Have recently been rereading Charles Johnson (Middle Passage, Oxherding Tales) after he totally charmed us all when he spoke here.
Rereading Munro's Dear Life, for book club and watching Call the Midwife. On the side, reading the new Philippa Gregory and will watch last week's GoT (still trying to clear out my list from last week before next week piles on! And Kit Harington is reason enough for GoT, whatever its faults) And then there's Amy Schumer, gross but right. Soon enough, big cities with new movies! Yay!
Last night, after the biker bar, an irish bar with Scottish music, the flautist wearing a kilt and tam. No music today..trying to catch up on volunteer editing, which takes silence for me!
ETA: So love Wings of Desire! and thanks for the Emma Approved reminder!

You are awesome in your breadth of experiences and reading! [applauds]
A great Sunday to you!
Thanks for the positive slant on my lack of discrimination! Hope your weekend is lovely and your Monday comes late!
What I'm reading: Nevada Barr's latest Anna Pigeon mystery and Queen of the Air, a biography of a circus aerialist in the early 1900's.
What I'm watching: The Bletchley Circle as it airs on PBS. And I'm catching up on Emma Approved. :-)
What I'm listening to: John Prine's Quiet Man
And the cries of a tortoise shell cat as well
That's a great John Prine song!
Cheers for reading, watching (and Emma Approved), your crying cat, and for you. :) Hugs and a great day!
What i have Watched Tonight - Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Tomrrow People.
What 1 will watch tomorrow - Rule Britannia part 3
What i am reading - "NW" by Zadie Smith
What i am listening to - The Kooks, Nick Drake, Anita Baker, Emma
Tat is my weekend.
I have the Zadie Smith in my To Be Read pile -- I really need to get to it.
Cheers for your cool watching and listening!
Reading: a book of short stories by Marge Piercy, and various stuff for Wiscon. I just watched Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast on TCM. Tonight I will be watching House of Frankenstein! Listening to...well, earlier today last.fm played "Airport" by the Motors, which I hadn't heard in years.
I tried to watch Beauty and the Beast after you posted it was on, but I forgot how unnerving I find Cocteau's vision. You are awesome, Gwynne. :)
Cheers and hugs!

What I'm reading: "Game of Thrones: Dance with Dragons" officially but cheating on it with C.S. Harris's "When Gods Die".
What I've Been Watching: The episode of "Elementary" that was shown in the UK this week.
What I'll Be Watching Tonight: I have no idea. We have a new Tivo and I've gone a bit mad collecting stuff on it. Could be the last episode of "Shetland" or "Endeavour" or...
I must try and fit in Emma Approved as we can watch YouTube on our telly now.
What I'm Listening to: I had a madly nostalgic Buffy moment last night and put on Amy Mann's "Lost in Space".
Have a lovely Sunday :)
I love that you're cheating on the Martin. :)
Yay for Youtube on the telly and for Buffy-nostalgia, and cheers for you, K!
Very cool, L, as usual! :)
Cheers and hugs for you, and a great Sunday.
Let's see....Reading "The Life and Crimes of Agatha Christie", again. I find the background of her books (especially the early ones) fascinating. Been watching baseball on mlbtv.com a lot this week, I was in Houston at a conference. Listening to whatever pops up on the ipod...usually something upbeat from my running playlist (not that I've been doing any actual running).
Oh, that book does sound really cool. And I hope the conference was a good one, and you're back home for the weekend. :)
Cheers! Happy start to your week!

Now I have New Order in my head.
Which is good.
[dances to "True Faith" with you]
[sends masses of hugs]
