|02:18 pm - Wednesday Wish-Place: abandoned spaces|
It's a stormy day in the subtropics. Round Three of the day's thunderstorms has just arrived, with rain hammering on the roof in waves. Master Danger, taken outside just as Round Two began, heard the thunder before I did and indicated strongly that he wished to be inside; at the moment he is in his secret hiding place behind the desk, where the scary storm can't get him.
So let's think about hiding places. In fact, because of a story* I'm working on, let's think about abandoned places.
Let's think about an open door like this, the creak of its opening still lingering in an otherwise silent corridor.
Let's think about the room that lies behind the door. (In Real Life, the door is French and the empty room is Italian, but this is a wish-place.) Someone has opened a window, and the still color-rich tapestries stir in the soft sunlit breeze. The air smells of lavender and green growing things.
Who knows what wonders might arrive? Who knows what danger comes with wonder?
May you have a good adventure today, even if it's only in your wishes. :)
*Stonewoods novella for mid-June, anyone?
Abandoned spaces for the win!
You make me think of "The Secret Garden" and E. Nesbit's "The Enchanted Castle" and most of all, L.M. Boston's Green Knowe, all of which are constant wish-places in my head.
And huzzahs for a new Stonewoods piece!
I should revisit the Green Knowe books, which I only dimly remember.
Cheers and cool sent your way, ALH!
Cheers, and many thanks, and hugs!
I would love a Stonewoods novella!
Thanks, T, and happy Wednesday. :)
Thanks, Gwynne! And happy wishing. :)

I'm always up for more Stonewoods.
Thanks, A! And happy Thursday, despite heat and other challenges.
Happy Thursday to you, L! Cheers and a lovely beginning of your weekend!
Who knows what danger comes with wonder?
That so describes your stories!
Thank you, S, for cheering me up. :)
(You should have a package at the P.O., btw.)
Hugs and a good Saturday!
