|09:55 am - quick notes and links|
Am just now surfacing from a horrible travel day on Sunday, but yes, I'm back. Yes, my father is out of the hospital and recovering quickly (or more quickly than had been predicted, anyway). Yes, Master Danger enjoyed his walk in the steamy morning and is lying on the cooler part of the entryway. All is normal once more.
Quick notes and links:
*I adored the Galbraith (Rowling) mystery The Silkworm, and indeed liked it better than the first Cormoran Strike book The Cuckoo's Calling. It's twisty (and occasionally twisted), often amusing, with great character development for our leads Cormoran and his secretary/assistant Robin, who gets a wonderful arc.
*Master Danger does not like jazz saxophone, which became clear as I was listening to a new Tim Garland CD and the young master came in the room to rumble and glare at me.
*The Sartorialist recently posted another photo of Simone Righi, who is My Favorite.
*Watched the first episode of the BBC Musketeers. Well, that all seems very much in order, and I'll be watching Episode 2 on Sunday.
And finally, let's all have a purple moment, as in this August 1957 cover of British Vogue.
Cheers to you all on this Wednesday, and may you find good things.

I'm glad your dad is doing better:)
Simone Righi! Oh my goodness.
Thanks for that!
And cheers for dad recovery! Glad it's going well.

Simone Righi, oh yes. Check the Sartorialist for the Simone Righi tag for several hits of HANDSOME. :)
Cheers and a lovely day to you!
I'm very glad your dad is recovering well!
Needless to say, I love that purple Vogue cover. :-)
I thought you'd like the purple Vogue cover!
Cheers and hugs to you today. :)

[hugs] and I'm keeping good thoughts for the continued improving health of your Aged Dad.
So, the Young Master dislikes jazz saxophone? What instruments does His Dangerousness prefer, then? Inquiring minds want to know.
Master Danger finds any music with piercing high notes unpleasant. He also is not fond of any violin-heavy music.
Everyone's a critic. ;)
Cheers and hugs to you today!
I hope the end of your week is MUCH MUCH better than the start of it, Rainkatt!
I'm relieved to hear your dad's doing better!
It was a scary illness, and he was actually worse than I'd been told -- but he's recovering now. :)
Cheers and hugs to you!

Very pleased that your father is out of hospital and recovering.
At least Master Danger didn't try and join in with the jazz saxophone!
Dad distinguished himself in hospital by being very sweet to all the staff and very cranky with his children. But even the crankiness is subsiding. ;)
Cheers and hugs for your post-birthday continuing celebration!
Yes, it's fair to say that Master Danger would prefer silence to music any old day. He is so goofy. ;)
I am enjoying The Musketeers a lot!
Hugs and a great Thursday, L.
Happy Thursday, L. Glad all is well on the home front--I was so whacked yesterday I asked you about the young master and NOT about your dad. Oops. Sorry.
Also, 3 Musketeers? Perk! Must do some research.
BBC America is showing the new series of Musketeers, which includes Peter Capaldi as Richelieu. (Only for this first series, though, for understandable reasons.) There are swords, adventure, and some great casting. :)
Cheers for you. Lunch tomorrow!
So glad your dad is better.
Our Kaatskill HATED my husband's open source Brazillian dance music. She'd yell at him and stomp out of the room when he played it.
Master Danger pretty much dislikes all music, but anything soprano or upper-register is especially Not On. ;)
I'm glad your dad is on a faster road to recovery.
He does seem to be doing much better -- although he's wisely taking it slow, which last week I wouldn't have believed. ;)
Cheers and a great weekend to you!
That is a lot of very nice things. I'm glad your father is doing well.
I'm really looking forward to The Silkworm.
The Silkworm really made me happy. :)
Hugs hugs and cheers, my friend!
A smashing 'Vogue' cover there.
It's really a striking image, isn't it?
Cheers and a good week to you!
