|11:39 am - Lazy|
Oh, I had such plans for this long weekend, I did. Work, work, work, that's what I planned.
Did I do any of it? Not so much. I've decided not to feel guilty about being lazy.
What I have been doing instead:
*French lessons (online program). So far I can pick up reading vocab fairly well, listening comprehension not so well, speaking just awful. That being said, I'm not sure the online program recognition is all THAT accurate: at one point I was given a tongue-twister with many "l" sounds, and the sentence tripped me up so badly that I ended up simply saying "La la la." The program gave me the happy little "Correct answer!" ping. [side-eyes program]
*Bugging Master Danger, who just wants to SLEEP and TAKE WALKS IN THE MORNING, geez, is that so difficult to understand....
*Babying my right leg, which somehow got strained Thursday afternoon. (It involved high heels and an unbalanced grocery-bag load and an ominous pop.) Today I did some light yoga to try to get it back, and there was a second ominous pop, but it feels a bit better.
*Thinking about Peter Capaldi's Doctor, who is grouchy and delicious.
*Investigating UK artist Nicole Dextras's Weedrobes, which are clothes made of plants. So fascinating.
*Looking forward to the Horst P Horst exhibition at the V&A in December.
What cool things have you been doing? I hope they've given you joy.
Love the Weedrobes! Especially the long skirted one with purple cabbage trim.
Much sympathy for the popped leg. I'm currently a great believer in heat on injuries like that, and have liked curcumin for pain and inflammation (along with aspirin). But best of all like physical therapy, which yoga certainly might be.
I've been kayaking every day in the salt marsh here on the coast. Until yesterday, we had blue skies, lots of sun, and a delightful breeze. The breeze is off on holiday now, sadly...but the huge white herons are still floating around, and the marsh is turning gold for fall, so I'm still willing to brave the heat. Yesterday that meant soaking my straw hat every so often.
And the ocean in still hot weather is wonderful. Green and clear with big lazy waves. Too many people on the shore today, but tomorrow it'll be empty and all mine.
The Weedrobes are so amazing! :)
And so are you for kayaking in the heat and connecting so wonderfully with the end-of-August days at the shore.
Cheers! Hope the first days of September are as gorgeous.

I hope your leg gets better soon.
Hugs and a great start to your month, L.
Oh dear, ominous popping sound are distressing. Hope the yoga is helping.
Lolling about here with my yarn and the elderly cat, encouraging B to clear his 2-month old stack of semi-priced books off the kitchen table so we can eat there when his friends come by on Friday en route to Vegas (magic shows, they love magic shows).
Cheers for a holiday weekend!
The yoga has helped a wee bit, yes. And every bit counts! :)
Hugs for the beginning of September, and cheers for yarn and cats and you.

Yay for a lazy long weekend!
And yay for you!
[hugs] Happy month ahead.

Sounds like the perfect weekend! Mine was spent restocking the larder, chasing down more school supplies, and then hanging with the family today as we found a creek for wading and then visiting an apple orchard store stand.
Your weekend sounds delightful! Apples are my favorite fruit. :)
Cheers and a great week!

Sometimes you need some time off. I hope your leg is better soon. [hugs]
Cheers and hugs and a great week ahead, A. With art!
You definitely should not feel guilty. Waste of time. I am picturing you walking around Paris, wearing your new boots and looking terribly stylish, saying "La la la." But in an extremely sophisticated way. ;)
At least you were looking awesome when you injured yourself. Alternate heat and cold, ten minutes each, if what you're doing isn't working. Also ibuprofen. Anti-inflammatory action is key. :) ((hugs))
Hee, you'll have to picture me in Paris with a slightly furrowed brow, trying to understand the speech around me. And of course saying "La la la." ;)
Hugs hugs and better days to you!

Hope your leg feels better soon, no fun being limpy. The V&A exhibition looks fantastic! I'm trying to decide if I MUST see the Tower Poppies before they go away or if I just really want to. So much to see and do!
The leg is better if not completely healed. :)
The V&A exhibition DOES look great, doesn't it? And I am sad that I'll be there too late for the Tower Poppies, because that's such an amazing installation.
Cheers and a good rest of the week to you!
