|07:16 pm - Day #21, 30 Days of Appreciation: My Style Uniform, and Feeling Strong|
The various Fashion Weeks for Spring/Summer 2015 have come and gone now. (Here, have the awesome photos of Shini Park from her blog Park and Cube, memorializing her London Fashion Week. And here, have Lisa Armstrong's sensible overview of the controversial Chanel show, wherein K Lagerfeld created a 'fashion feminism' street march within the Grand Palais. He claimed, as Armstrong quotes him, to be creating mode de vie clothes. Notably -- flat shoes.)
Of course for me, I don't even want to have to think about spring. We're into October, and we're into the six months of the year when weather allows me to wear my cherished 'uniform'.
My style uniform, worn at least four days a week, is simple: scarf, the bigger the better; a straight skirt just above the knees; tights; boots. (As for tops, I prefer button-downs, but my life seems to work better when I wear fine t-shirts or sweaters.)
The boots I wear now are mostly low-heel, a half-inch to an inch and a half, although I do have higher heels for both a pair of tall boots and a new pair of ankle boots. I can run in all of them. I can stand on my feet and bounce energetically. I perhaps can't drive as well with the many pairs of cowboy boots, seeing as their substantial soles mean I can't feel the pedals as well -- but then, I'm not usually driving very far.
I will not tell you how many pairs of boots or how many scarves I have, but I will tell you that I keep boots and scarves for decades.
There are no words to convey how utterly glad I am that it's uniform season.
May you have clothing that makes you feel strong, even in the worst weeks. Cheers to you all!
I look forward to being able to wear thick scarves and tights and boots!
Hurrah hurrah! May it come soon!

It's not a mere uniform, it's your armor!
I'd be happy just to fit back into my jeans, at this point.
You have earrings and cool t-shirts as your armor! I hope you get to wear some today.
If I were working, your uniform would be my uniform. As it is, my uniform is a pair of yoga pants most days. ;-) (I too have thing for boots. And jackets.)
(Also, I'm not concerned, but Tim is the only fashion related icon I have *g*)
edited because LJ keeps turning my selected icon into my default icon. Grr.

Yoga pants are a perfectly fine uniform. :)
I have a closetful of jackets I don't often wear -- I'll have to see if I can make it back to them this winter.
Hugs and 'make it work'!
I have one pair of boots and my sister gave them to me because they didn't fit her. I feel like I'm missing out :)
You are not required to love boots, fear not. :)
Cheers and a great Friday!

Yay boots, yay you!
