|03:27 pm - Merriment|
It's a quiet holiday 'round these parts -- or rather, not that quiet in real terms, since I got some great music as gifts, to wit, a collection of Stax and Atlantic soul and funk from 1966 to 1977 from one of my brothers and also a collection of 60s chanteuse Vashti Bunyan from gwynnega (Thanks!!). Here's a song that fits the time of year, in fact: "Coldest Night of the Year".
I've already piled all the books I got (including a book about Fred Astaire and jazz, and a reference book on fashion) in a beautiful stack, but right now I'm reading Alicia Drake's The Beautiful Fall, a nonfiction book about fashion and 1970s Paris. Fun fact: did you know Yves St Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld were 2 of the 3 winners of "the Wool Secretariat fashion design competition of 1954"? Drake delicately adds that the third winner, one Colette Bracchi, "would henceforth disappear into fashion oblivion."
Yesterday I made my traditional whole-wheat cinnamon rolls (this time with Penzey's cinnamon -- thanks, stateless82!) and then walked Master Danger in the deserted downtown as the shadows fell. At dusk I went over to my friends' house and drank Champagne with them. I capped my day with Doctor Who, which featured my beloved Twelve smiling! Repeatedly! Tonight I go to a different friends' house for a casual post-holiday dinner.
In other words, it's been a time of riches. Subdued merriment, shall we say.
I am wishing you all music, nourishment, and smiles in the next few days. Let the light shine!

Sounds like a lovely holiday.
Yes, it was! Hugs and joy to you today.
I will send you the book when I'm done. :)
And much happiness to you!
Joy and sun to you today!
I have not yet tasted the glory of the Christmas special, since we were buying and then setting up a whole set of new lighting arrangements in the house, but I am savoring the wait. Glad to know I'll be seeing that smile! :)
Your holiday reading sounds wonderful, L. Mine is all about the difference between tango beats and milonga beats, so that I don't embarrass myself tomorrow night.
Hugs to you, and to the Dangerous Darling!
I really enjoyed the Christmas special, I must say.
Cheers for your dancing and your weekend! [hugs]

And a happy holiday weekend to you, T!
That sounds like a lovely day ... bright, warm, good sounds, and friends.
And Master Danger as well as P Capaldi to provide that necessary edge.
ALL THE HUGS!
It was a quiet but nice day indeed -- and I hope you had warmth and good things as well!
(I finally sent off a v.v.v. small package. Expect it Wednesday.)
Hugs hugs hugs!
