|10:10 am - Lemon in Water, Or, Intentions for the Year|
It's a smotheringly humid and hot Sunday morning in the subtropics, with temperatures forecast to equal records today. In fact, when Master Danger and I went out for our morning walk at dawn, it was slightly warmer than the day's average high, and the Spanish moss drooped the weight of the air.
But cold is coming and the pressure is changing, as my sinuses are telling me, so we must prepare to adapt to the change.
Of course the calendar has changed, too. 2015 just sounds wrong to me, somehow. It surely is still 1996, right? Or, well, not.
I don't make resolutions as such. I set intentions instead, and I contemplate rewards. (Of course I need to focus on the former, heh.)
So for 2015:
*I intend to keep working on learning French, five to ten minutes at a time, almost every day. My reward, should I keep going, will be to subscribe to Paris Vogue in 2016.
*I intend to use my library card more, as in, at all, this year.
*I intend to visit an art museum once a month.
*I intend to spend five minutes looking at inspirational images in the early morning, to set my mind for the day. An example for the upcoming week: the elegance and assurance of this 1970 Sieff photograph of Charlotte Rampling wearing Yves Saint Laurent.
*I intend to drink good tea every day (yesterday, a pitcher of iced Provencal Grey from Pipers Tea, so unbelievably refreshing), and good wine at least once a week.
*I intend to start sending handwritten letters or postcards to friends and family, one a week.
*I intend to dance every day, even if it's only for five minutes.
*I intend to send out what I write.
*I intend to put a lemon slice or a lime wedge in my water every day, just for the zing of it.
And now, on a less enjoyable note, I intend to wash my kitchen floor. But you know, the boring stuff needs intention too. :)
May your 2015 be full of zing in all good ways.
The morning is SO STICKY here I'm debating turning on the air. Florida, you so crazy!
Your list of intentions is admirable, and I enviously approve of your dancing intent and your "set the mood" intent. Such good ideas. I don't have a list of intentions. I intend to do that.
Hugs in nonsticky solidarity!
(And my respects to The Snap Master.)
So hideous, this weather. I have all the fans on and am about to make a pitcher of iced tea. Extra ice will be needed.
Cheers for you and all good thoughts for 2015!
That's a pretty good list you got there :)
Thanks! I actually want to do these things, so I'll probably manage more of them than usual.
Best to you as you start your new year with your upcoming changes!

Zing and zest for 2015! :)
We have actual sunshine!!! After two weeks of rain, sunshine! It's still pretty chilly, but there is light!
I do like your list- it's much more inspirational than any of the vague thoughts of 'I really ought to do that' that I have.
Bonne année et bonne santé!
Yay for sunshine you want! :) It's been partly cloudy here, which is the only thing keeping the temperature slightly below Early June (gaah).
Hugs hugs, et merci! :)
An excellent list!
Sorry you're having crummy humid weather. It's been so cold in LA, your weather sounds almost appealing!
Our crummy ridiculous heat is about to go away, thank heavens -- although I'll be feeling v v cold by the end of the week!
[hugs and healing]
I do like your list which is immensely more attractive than what we did today, combining splitting and stacking the wood from the tri-partite 60 foot oak that fell on the garage on Tuesday with rounding up and dealing with the guy who pumped the septic tank on short Sunday notice. Also, the garge door header is currently being reinforced by B's daughter's boyfriend while B's son is helping him get every possibly minute of use from the rented splitter before the light goes. I finally shooed both of B's over-sixty sisters home after they spent many hours on stacking detail with me.
I am now sitting by the fire with a happy cat on my lap and cooling tea by my side. happy new year!
Oh no! What a horror! Falling trees are a nightmare. Hugs hugs hugs for it all.
May this week be better!
It could have been so much worse that we're oddly grateful...not raining this week so we have time to tarp the roof, not on the house which is a separate structure, not in the middle of the night, and we were't out of town when it happened..in fact, B was standing 20 feet away and turned just in time to watch it topple.
I'm glad the worst didn't happen! But still. [hugs]
Good tea, good wine, dancing everyday, and sending out what you write! Those are admirable intentions, and I hope you realize them all--along with lots of peace, happiness, and good times (to say nothing of a good dog).
Peace, happiness, and good times (and ocean breezes and good cats) to you! :)
I give the idea to you! :)
[hugs hugs] Happy week ahead, L!
I like your list, especially the good tea. Reminds me that I have a lot of good tea sitting around and I should drink it before buying something else.
I also have a lot of good tea lying around, which prompts my intention! :)
Cheers and a good start to your week!
I always love your intentions... I am so afraid of commitment that I can't even articulate mine. But here's to keeping the zing in all the things!
H-P, hugs hugs hugs! And zing for you! :)
Happy week ahead, too.
Thank you! Happy 2015, too. :)
