|01:37 pm - Under the Weather, Post #33|
I am figuratively under the weather because of sinusitis bleahs, and I am also in another figurative sense under the weather because I am OPPRESSED by the heat and sun. OPPRESSED, I tell you.
I am also rather sad, because this morning brought the news that actor Roger Rees has died. (At 71! That seems awfully young.) Rees was a Royal Shakespeare Company stalwart and Stoppard favorite before he made the move to America in the 1980s, and is probably best known here for the character turns on television -- Robin Colcord on Cheers, Lord John Marbury on The West Wing. However, he did amazing NYC theatrical work right up to his death. He was a very fine actor who didn't have the worldwide recognition of many of his RSC cohort (Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, et al) but clearly worked on projects that meant something to him and were successful on their own terms. That's something to be proud of.
In other news, I have no news. I've spent the past two days either working, thinking about working, or sitting in the doctor's office or at the pharmacy. But I'll come up with something interesting tomorrow, I hope!
Lastly, it's Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell day, and we're to Episode 5. I am prepared for the feels.
Cheers to all, and may you be in better conversation with your weather than I am.

Sends hugs in advance.
It's going to tear me up, isn't it.
[is strong, despite wobbling lip]
[sends hugs back]

Sends fortifying tea and more hugs.
I was not prepared. [sobs]

So sorry you aren't well; I hate the sinusitus so much! We are also having a surprisingly decent weather day ... I appreciate you taking one for the team.
Hurrah for a lovely summer day where you are! And hurrah for you in general and specific! :)
Sinus misery is a horrible misery...hope you recover soon.
I am at least comforted that my nurse-practitioner is On The Case, and she's going to get me better somehow someway. :)
Cheers to you!

Yuckie. :( I've had a sinus headache for the last two days - bleah.
But there is a new episode of JS&MN tonight! (I have to catch up - I have Episode 3 now, but last week we were so busy I never had a chance to see it, so I'm WAY behind! *sob!*)
Hugs and sympathies for your headache!
JS&MN!! Catch up, it's just breathtaking! :)
Watched it all tonight! It IS lovely, but I was a little dubious about some of the re-writes, especially Jonathan's behavior directly after Arabella's (apparent) death. (Wouldn't anyone notice a body is not decaying after seven days????? It's not like they had her on ice...)
But the acting is astounding. It's just lovely, on the whole.
Bertie Carvel's Jonathan distracted me so much that I missed the problems with the adaptation -- he wrecked me in his grief. [sobs] Also, I am ready for the Gentleman, Norrell, and Lascelles to die in a fire. [/not really]
Hugs and a good Sunday.
I'm hoping they don't change Lascelles' eventual punishment. It couldn't have happened to a worthier fellow... *spoilers!*
NOOOOOOO, I adored Roger Rees. So delightful. Thanks for letting us know. And bleh, sinusitis in the summer. bleh bleh bleh.
I'm so glad Jonathan Strange is going well. I'm going to have to start watching now that they're a few episodes ahead. We're doing Miss Fisher Mysteries rewatch, in anticipation of season 3. If you're not seen it, m'dear, OMG, THE CLOTHES. And the UST, but THE CLOTHES.
The news about Roger Rees is so very sad. :(
JS&MN is a delicious delight, and I hope you do get to see it! I'll try Miss Fisher Mysteries again at some point -- I watched a couple of episodes and bounced off the show for some reason, but it might just have been my mood.
I'm just obsessing about the weather- hot and wet, hot and humid, hot and cloudy, hot and clear, hot, hot, hot and EVERY indoor space is so over air conditioned that water is running down the windows and the cold of it makes me ache. Such a ridiculous complaint to have, but I'm making it none the less...
Gaah, how awful! It's been hideous here too, but oddly enough most of the interior spaces aren't super-air-conditioned, so I'm just miserably hot all the time. However, we've had a wet week promised, and if we get rain most afternoons I can manage.
Ice and cool breezes and hugs sent your way.
