01:14 pm - Ten-Minute Lunchtime Lists, Post #49 I haven't posted here in a day or two, largely because something nice happened to me at work earlier this week and I immediately fell into a slough of Impostor Syndrome. (I imagine Impostor Syndrome as nasty grey mud, with just a hint of quicksand.) I'm moving past that now, but am slammed with work-stuff, so no time to properly post. Here, let's play:
Five Favorite Colors: silver, cobalt-blue, fuchsia, turquoise, navy-blue
Five Favorite Sounds: wind through palm fronds, distant thunder, certain British actors' voices (apply to request names), Bach cello pieces, 80s saxophone breaks in pop songs (the last is PROFOUNDLY uncool, but there we are)
Five Favorite Words: silver, grandiose, marvelous, y'all (I'm counting that contraction as a word), cloud
Five Favorite Things about Master Danger: the way he vocalizes at me when he's feeling conversational, his sharp smart deep-brown eyes, his bark when I tell him it's suppertime, the Corgi-trot he does, his eager smile when we play take-away with his bone
If you have time, tell me five things! If you don't have time, good thoughts -- and take five breaths. :)

As you know, it has not been my bestest week ever, but good things have happened!
Here are five:
1) I saw a Perseid last night! Only one, but I was in the middle of lots of light pollution, and I also wanted to go back to bed. 2) On the way back from funeral land, I stopped at a truck stop, and the graffiti scratched on the back of the bathroom stall said, "you are beautiful!" I said thank you to the universe. 3) Clerk at Half Price Books gave me $5 off because I made him laugh. 4) No line at the Horrible Toll Tag Place. 5) The frozen Jamaican chicken pie that I bought at Dollar Tree was, implausibly, not bad.
And you are NOT an impostor, missy. Stop that or I'll start using my possum icon. I am SO glad that you've had good things in a hellish week -- and those are actually good things indeed!
All the hugs, Cronopio. (No possums, please!) ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/123298431/7090727) | From: | anne_d |

Yay for good things at work, boo for Imposter Syndrome. You are Not a Failure, and your Inner Critic can stuff it! All the hugs!
Five good things?
Shadow greeting me at 5AM - not so much "Feed me now!" as "Mommy, mommy, I missed you all night, please pet me!" complete with purrs and trills and going flop on the floor.
Playing with shiny things, like the beads I'm embroidering with today.
My little studio room of my own - it's not very big, at the moment it looks like it exploded, but it's mine, and it's decorated with things I love.
The way Emily comes in bubbling over the latest bird sighting. Today it was a whyda, flying over our backyard.
This one is really silly - my planner. It's an old Oberon leather one, black with a Celtic oak tree on the front, fixed up just the way I want it, with a bookmark and dividers and a planner charm I made myself. I think it's both useful and ornamental. Yay for your 5 things, including all the art stuff, and I admire those Oberon leather planners so much!

You are the real thing and no imposter.
((Hugs)) You are the kindest, my friend. :)
Hugs! Begone, impostor syndrome!
::hugs::
It is such an unwelcome guest.
Hugs and a great evening! ((hugs)) You are definitely the Real Thing. Five things, inspired by your list: the color plum (which I think of as wine-purple, I've seen different designations for that color), the color teal, hats, shoes that are both funky and comfortable for my arthritic feet, a few squares of dark chocolate accompanied by a latte with hemp milk and maple syrup (I know it sounds gross but it's actually very good!).
Sorry I haven't been around much, I had a rough few weeks. Wine-purple is a fabulous synonym for plum! I love that!
And yay for things that make you feel good, from shoes to colors to hats, to lovely comestibles. :)
Hugs hugs! A busy week everywhere, clearly...
5 Good Things:
-The house clean thanks to the biweekly visit of the brownies -The subfloor is completed on the garage addition and the wood has arrived for starting the framing next week (visible progress!) -I have finished knitting a tunic length cardigan in an amazing shade of red that varies all e way from red-orange to very bluered depending on its companions (only awaiting buttons, currently lost in mail) -Our local fire no longer has any presence on the list of California wild fires, meaning it's all done and dusted -All week there have been the sweetest hand-made signs stuck up along the road into town thanking the wonderful firefirghters who made point 4 a reality
I do love your lists...happy weekend and death to Imposter Syndrome! Hurrah for visible progress! Hurrah for knitting and clean houses and no forest fires, because these are all of the good.
Hugs hugs! I will tell you the five books [edited to add the 's'] I'm currently reading-
1. We Have Always Lived in the Castle- which I love 2. Zuleika Dobson- Max Beerbohm- which you rec'd to me eons ago and I also love 3. Electrifying America: Social Meanings of a New Technology, 1880-1940- one of the books on this years summer topic (which is what was it like when households and communities went from candles to gaslights to electricity) 4. An Ember in the Ashes- a ya fantasy by Sabaa Tahir that I saw recommended by Robin Hobb on Goodreads- I'm not seeing the reason for her enthusiasm yet, but I'm hopeful. 5. Watership Down- Bunnies!
And ((hugs))
Edited at 2015-08-14 10:59 pm (UTC) Watership Down is not a HAPPY story about bunnies, as I recall from my youthful read of the book... ;)
Yay, I'm glad you like the Beerbohm book!
Hugs hugs hugs! All the hugs. The impostor thing, yes. But you truly are splendid! Thank you, H_P. Thanks and all the hugs right back at you. :) I am always happy to see you!
Hugs, L! |
