|10:44 am - Finding the Moments, Post #49|
I don't know about anyone else, but it's been hard to move into Thanksgiving cheer. I am tired and anxious and battered by all bad news in the larger world. Yet this day (shorn of its awful erasure of indigenous people's reality) has been one I've long cherished.
I have to find the moments to celebrate.
So, I am grateful for the chrysanthemums I just deadheaded in order to find the hidden buds. I have managed to keep these plants alive for a whole month (which with my black thumb is amazing).
I am grateful that Master Danger allowed me to cuddle him yesterday for an entire minute.
TI am grateful for the delightful weather here in the subtropics, and we might get rain -- which would be less pleasing for the Thanksgiving dinner I'll be attending later, often held outside, but is nevertheless much needed.
I am grateful that the friends with whom I will share Thanksgiving dinner won't care that I tried a new version of lemon curd cheesecake and I'm pretty sure it didn't exactly work. [shakes fist at Southern Living recipe] [shakes fist at self who screwed up Southern Living recipe]
And now I will write for a couple of hours, and go to my friends' for fellowship and dinner, and then I'll watch the Buffy episode "Pangs," according to tradition.
May you find moments to cherish today, whether it's a holiday or not.
Yes. It's hard to get in the spirit of things this year, isn't it?
But I wish you, and Master Danger, and your cheesecake all the best!
All good thoughts for a lovely day for you and Zelda!
Pangs! I'd entirely forgotten. Now I know what to do when I come home. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Master Danger, and may he become even more cuddly.
That episode still holds up. And Giles is my forever love. :)
Cheers and a lovely Friday to you!

Happy Thanksgiving! Lemon curd cheesecake sounds delicious.
Although Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry would have justified criticisms of presentation and technique, I will say that it was really really tasty. :)

[hugs] Yay for chrysanths and doggie snuggles and good weather.
Hugs and good thoughts for your Friday!
I'm thankful for a great number of things, and you're one of them, my friend. Hugs, and happy post-Thanksgiving recovery!
And I'm thankful for you! [hugs]
(Also -- you have a tea strainer/ball/whatsit for looseleaf tea, yes? I'd like to pass along some herbal tea that makes me a little itchy. It might work better for you.)
I hope everything went well for a great Thanksgiving, in spite of all. I'm thankful just to think about the possibility of lemon curd cheesecake.
In terms of presentation and good baking, the lemon curd cheesecake didn't work. But it tasted GREAT. :)
Happy weekend to you and yours!
