|12:30 pm - Come On Get Snappy|
Friday, too hot, too hot, too hazy... So let's list Cool Things of Joy today:
*the title of my post comes from a package of Publix Ginger Snaps, in which the central image is a photograph of a ginger snap (mmmm) which becomes the shell of a turtle, with an artist's rendering of a turtle's head and legs around it. So, the picture, the subtitle, AND the actual ginger snaps: COOL.
*this 2006 picture of Ethan Stiefel and Gillian Murphy from the ABT website. The occasion: Stanton Welch’s Clear .... last performed by ABT in 2003 ... is set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach with costumes by Michael Kors for Celine. Clear was given its World Premiere by ABT at City Center in 2001. COOL.
(And Mr Stiefel is also hot, which is a nice paradox. :-))
*Yoga workout last night with a new instructor in a new setting, a private yoga studio out in the subtropical woods, while the sun set. COOL.
*A sudden explosion of blooms on my Knockout rose bush, after several weeks without. COOL.
*The Dog of the House becoming vocal and cheery at random times in the past few days. COOL.
*Finally, finally, a DVD release (albeit Region 2 only) for the 1948 version of The Winslow Boy. Mmmmm, Robert Donat! Margaret Leighton! Wit and black-and-white beauty! COOL.
What's cool with you? May it be with you all weekend. :-))
What is cool with me is that it is Friday!! :-)
Hurrah hurrah for Friday! [hugs]
What a sticky hazy day it is--blergh. Makes me wanna nap. (Which I have done.)
Um, cool things...well, Haagen-Dazs one-serving containers. Tall glasses of iced tea with spearmint leaves. Kitties blissed out on cool white tiles. oh! And touching my nose to my knee twice during yoga this morning, plus my first headstand in probably 35 years...those were cool!
And this champagne--that, too, is cool.
It is hazy and hot. I do not approve.
But YOUR list of Cool Things is fabulous, and yay! :-)
I'm glad you were able to find a new yoga instructor! I know I go nuts when I can't get my walk and gym time in.
Thank you, Chase! :-) I'm so glad to find the yoga space (after the last studio space closed practically overnight), especially because I'm also doing a strength-cardio class this summer and I need the restorative work.
Hope you're keeping cool in this nasty heat! Happy weekend, too. :-)
I'm so glad you're feeling better, Rainkatt! :-)
[opens bottle of champers for you]
And I smile and sigh at Max, determined old gentleman that he is. ;-) But at least the steps are there if he needs them!
[hugs and good cheer]

Yay for long awaited releases:)
Robert Donat, Lesley! Robert Donat! [clasps your hands in girlish glee]
So what have been cool things of joy for you today? Or recently? (Besides the masses of goals England scored in the last match. ;-))
Hooray for good things! (ROSES! This is the time of year when we get roses, they're tiny and withery, although it's been surprisingly cool for June!)
The Knockout roses are fairly small blooms, but they're spreading out nicely. :-) It's due to the good rain of several weeks ago, I think.
And hurrah for a surprisingly cool desert June (so far)! We're in an evil heatwave, here on the other side of the country...
Well, bear in mind "surprisingly cool" in Phoenix means it's been around 98 (rather than the more typical 108+). *grin*
Yoga in the woods and rose blossoms? How lovely.
My cool things are TV related. I'm watching this show I've never heard of- a BBCAmerica thing called Jekyll. The cool thing is that it was lent to me by one of my co-workers who thought I might like it.
I also watched the Paul Newman/Susan Sarandon/Gene Hackamn movie 'Twilight'. It was very noir-ish and also starred James Garner and Stockard Channing. How cool is that?
And very cool-by this time next week I will be on vacation.
Oh hurrah for cool things on TV. [immediately puts Twilight on the Netflix queue, James Garner OMG]
And hurrah hurrah for upcoming vacations, too.
(Email coming your way...)
Hugs hugs as well as hurrahs!
Too hot, indeed. But the new yoga studio sounds divine.
And,OMG THE WINSLOW BOY! There must and shall be a region-free dvd player. I can make it my "new school year" pressie to myself.
The new yoga studio is sort of a makeshift space (the old studio closed down quite unexpectedly), but it's really lovely. :-)
Hugs hugs, H_P! Would you like a glass of iced Earl Grey (decaf) to battle the heat? Slice of lemon with that as well, perhaps? Drop of agave nectar instead of sugar?
I walked five miles yesterday!
That is VERY cool indeed! :-))
[sends applause, cheers, and maybe some Boots cooling foot lotion]
