|09:06 am - 20 Things for 20 Missed Days|
I cannot quite believe that I haven't posted here in 20 days, except that, well, there it is. So let us proceed with 20 items for today, right now:
*today's sight: crow at dawn, sitting in the highest bare branch of a hundred-year-old oak, sliver of moon shining above its head.
*today's Dog of the House trick: untying my shoe.
*today's first-line-from-a-work-stalled-in-progress: Linda is humming along with a song on the radio – ‘still on the, still on the line’ – when she sees Johnny Lane standing in the middle of Highway 50.
*today's line-from-a-chapter-of-a-work-actually-in-achingly-slow-progress: “I know, hermano,” she said, although she didn’t, and she fixed her gaze on the noontime pouring over the cars like a river and on the silver flashes of reflection, the random stabs of light.
*today's breakfast: organic honey-oat flakes (store brand) with fresh blueberries to match the Blue Willow bowl.
*today's Eeep: seeing two (low)potential storm-circles on the National Hurricane Center map.
*today's odd and extremely belated discovery: "Je Danse le Mia," a 1994 French pop-hop song which samples George Benson's Give Me the Night. So it was, like, totally huge in France back in the day. [/stupid-American voice]
*today's workout, ending with dancing, set to: old Pet Shop Boys.
*today's earworm: the Ashes to Ashes theme song.
*today's happy thought: the Guv power-sliding the Quattro.
*today's happy thought, return: the Guv his own self.
*today's color: blue, yes.
*today's ailment: incipient sinus infection.
*today's sound: a yawn.
*today's sound, return: a friend's band, if the thunderstorms don't cancel the event.
*today's shirt: T-shirt, v-necked, stretched out, not so flattering.
*today's projected high temperature: 89.
*today's projected heat index: don't ask.
*today's excuse: Could you repeat the question?
*today's wish: for you all to have a happy, happy weekend. :-))
Eeep indeed! Guess it's that time again. Hope they all miss us both!
These tropical waves likely won't develop [fingers crossed] -- but yes, the Cape Verde storm season has begun.
Happy Saturday, nevertheless!

Smites Evol storm circles.
You too, mates.
Luckily they're not storms YET. YET.
Hugs and a happy Saturday, L!
Happy weekend, L!
And I want to know Linda and Johnny's story now...
Bless you, if I ever finish Linda and Johnny's story, I'll let you know. [sigh]
Cheers, wine, and a v.v. happy Saturday!

Crossed fingers and toes that the hurricanes pass you by, and that your sinus infection goes away quickly.
Happy weekend to you, too.
The hurricanes have not yet hurricaned; it's just that the storm season really is now starting to heat up. (Literally and figuratively.) Oh well...
Happy Saturday to you, a fair day and a good vibe! :-)
Happy happy beach day, Rainkatt! And enjoy the temperatures, wow. :-)
90 here, heat index 96 but the humidity is only 55, which is weirdly low.
Here the cat is crying for her portion of wet food- she doesn't eat it, she just likes to lick up the gravy and I'm debating the merits of a frozen waffle for lunch before heading off to work.
Fingers are crossed that storms don't become storms and infections fade quickly away.
I hope that the humidity is NOT oppressive for y'all today, and I hope that cool comes soon.
I further hope that the cat has been satisfied, the waffle was good, and your work is easy! [hugs hugs]
The first image, the bird against the moon, is just so lovely. **hugs** Have fun at the hopefully not-thunderstormed-off musical evening!
It was such a clear moment, the bird, the dawn, the moon -- glad it pleased, A! :-)
Cheers, hugs, good thoughts for the rest of your weekend!
Lovely list (well, barring the sinus and storm stuff)...am jealous of your temps, as we are currently at 98 headed for 100 again. That's why we spent yesterday afternoon in the AC watching dark and dramatic Harry Potter.
Hugs and good thoughts for warding off sinuses and storms!
Sadly, the sinus problems continue.
But otherwise, cheers for Harry Potter, cheers for A/C, and cheers for you, ALH! :-) [hugs hugs]
Blueberries! We've finally got some, as well. :-)
I don't think the clothes one wears in the house are meant to be flattering, right?
And, wow, that A2A theme really *is* 80's, isn't it?
The utter 80s quality of the A2A theme is no doubt why I love it so. [hums, and only barely refrains from air guitar]
Hugs and blueberries and more blueberries! Also, a happy end of weekend! :-)
We have Blue Willow plates, too! *g* Happy weekend!
Hurrah for Blue Willow plates! :-)
And hurrah for you, and a happy end of weekend, too. [hugs]
I hope the storms stay well away!
Storms stayed away, but the sinus infection laid me low. Alas.
But anyway, anyway, happy Sunday to you! [hugs]
today's hug: belated and yet still vigorous!
And the same back to you, F! Happy, happy Sunday to you and yours. :-)
Hon, I actually went somewhere over the weekend, so here I am now, giving you a belated hug, based on both journals. Please take care of yourself. ((hugs))
Sinus infections are the worst -- unless you've had them, you don't understand how they can just make you feel rotten all over and just ruin your well-being. Find a doctor that can really take care of you and rinse with lots of saline, okay? If you want to hear about it, I found a new trick that helps. ((double hugs))
Thank you, Nell (and I hope your weekend was good!).
The doctor is not hugely helpful, but I'm trying to do all the right things. (Antibiotics inevitably make me feel worse for a while, so...) But yes, saline! Will check back with you in a few days for extra tips.
Hugs and thanks and hugs, Nell.
