|02:18 pm - Lifestyle Change|
A new year, and a slightly embarrassing couple of months' silence for this LJ...
But! We dance into the future, we move on. ;-)
I have been working on intentions since last year -- and I've been using a new phrase to check myself. It is, of course, "lifestyle change."
I started using it last summer when I changed my eating and exercise habits to a (slightly) more healthful set. When tempted to gorge myself unthinkingly, I would, well, think. And I would say to myself, "Lifestyle change," and put away the extra toast and get out the blueberries instead.
In this new year, I've already had to use it far too many times -- re said toast, re a freakout over a malfunctioning heat pump this morning (all fixed, thanks to a kind Bulgarian technician), re an over-indulgence in Diet Cokes. But these are all negative uses. It's time to reclaim my phrase for good stuff, too.
So, this year I intend to go with Less/Fewer But Better. This applies to
--Clothes in General
and, in a slightly different context, Whingeing. ;-)
It's a lifestyle change!
What are you planning to enjoy more mindfully this year? Whatever it is, may it be just what you need!

That sounds a great motto.
Happy New Year, mate:)
Happy New Year, L, with all your intentions ready to go! :-)
That's a very good intention. And an interesting selection of targets! For me, recent events haven't changed my intention to practice more--meditation and yoga (the yoga will be limited to floor poses for the next little bit, obviously). And writing. More of all.
Also want to be more grateful for all the good fortune I have and continue to have. It's another kind of mindfulness, I guess--sometimes I don't pay enough attention to people's kindness (especially my husband, who is currently being quite saintly). And rejoicing! More of that, too--especially in other people's goodness and their accomplishments.
More is a good thing, in the case of that list of yours! (I wrote a lot last year; it just wasn't very good or focused, hence my resolve. ;-))
Hurrah for awareness and rejoicing! More, more, more! :-)
Excellent additions to a list of intentions. [sends them your way]
Well, the holiday gorging has definitely made me feel like enjoying food more mindfully (or, at any rate, more vegetable-ly and less milk-fat-product-ly!).
I know exactly what you mean. ;-)
Hurrah for you, Gwynne! [hugs]
Just do the best you can, as often as you can, in ways big and small, is my plan! Easier said than done, but we persevere!
*hugs and pats and more hugs and pats*
You have an excellent plan, A. Cheers, hugs and support!
I admire your self discipline. In fact, I'm in awe of it. Happy new year!
I'm not at ALL self-disciplined, really! But I do a nice impression of it. ;-)
Hugs and a happy (if cold) day, F!
I need to get back into the writing habit properly.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you, and happy writing in 2010!
You ask the best and the hardest questions. :-)
You know, it never occurred to me that the word enjoy should be included in my hopes/plans for the year. It opens up some possibilities.
You should definitely enjoy yourself, Susan! :-)
[urges you on]
[sends good thoughts and hugs]
