|10:40 am - No Time, No Mind|
I had thought to write and post a little something for this February 14. I'd sat down in front of the computer, in fact, with a couple of words to prompt me, and...
Alas, it can't be done. Too much work at the moment, too much cold, too much mental energy devoted to reworking a novel-project and doodling notes for another.
So, I will link to last year's proper fairy-tale and last month's idiosyncratic one. Those say what I want to say on this chilly feast of St Valentine's.
And I will give you an image: a cold wind finding its way inside what should be a safe space, and the ripple of old velvet bed-hangings as that wind passes; two candles going out; a male hand, long-fingered and ink-stained, closing those bed-hangings to keep in the warmth of an afternoon's love; a female hand closing over his, and her murmur which lights the flame again.
(Which flame? I'll leave it to you to decide.)
Happy February 14, happy dreams, and just the right amount of fire. :-)
Happy dreams to you too. I managed to write a ficlet, but given the way I expect the story to go, it's not really a romantic one.
I enjoyed your piece! :-)
Happy Sunday, and a good start to your week.
:hugs: to you on this chilly, breezy day, and a thank you for an evocative image!
Thank you, F, and may there be warmth and poss. Champagne where you are. :-)

Shelters the candle flame.

Happy February 14 to you, Gwynne. :-)
Happy start of the week, L! :-)
Lovely image of romance. Nice to revisit the existing fairy tales too.
Late as always, but with chocs and hugs!
Thank you thank you, ALH! [offers fresh brownies and properly aged Champagne] Happy week, with hugs. :-)
