10:50 am - the fog burned off Sunday notes:
*Foggy, warm morning, since burned off. Walked the Dog of the House in it, and as we rounded the last corner of the park (after she'd sniffed every tree), I finally got the hook I needed to rewrite the opening of Traveller and Wish-queen. Finally!
*The Dog of the House finds fallen heaps of Spanish moss endlessly fascinating. Like fog, the tangle of moss might hide and hold treasures.
*My neighbors J and J last night built a fire in their back garden whilst it rained. The flames leapt into grey, and turned water into smoke.
*Allergies have struck, oh my GOD, and exhaustion just barely under control, but am managing.
*It is a regrettable fact that I attended a self-improvement/personal-growth-type workshop on Friday and came away thinking about how I could write about it, rather than being transformed. Alas. But it's probably good to know what paths not to take for myself, right? Right?
*Tom Stoppard profile in today's Observer: "Stoppard, with several lifetimes worth of brilliance behind him, is the epitome of English raffishness, warm-hearted and courteous, offering sandwiches and tea, dragging on a cigarette as he thinks." Raffishness! Yes, we know how this affects me.
*Stoppard's in the news because of his translation of Chekhov's Ivanov (which led critic Susannah Clapp to coin the utterly pleasing adjective "Chekhoppardian," bless). Kenneth Branagh is starring in the Donmar Warehouse production of Ivanov to rave reviews -- along with Gina McKee, whom I respect so much! -- and there's a interesting article here about his "comeback."
*I only just realized (I'm slow) that turquoise, my favorite stone, is my birthstone. I have inherited several great pieces from my late mother, and I think perhaps I'll start wearing at least one piece every week in celebration.
What good things might you celebrate today?
Hugs to all, and hosts of your own good things to emerge from the fog!

Chekhoppardian! I like that :) I also am a big Gina McKee fan.
PS -- I am celebrating the ability to make enchiladas :)

Hurrah for finding your hook, and for writing inspirations, even if found in odd places! A self-improvement class? Whatever works.
Turquoise is your birthstone? Mine too.
Today is lovely, cool and grey, at least this morning. I walked to the market. Exercise and celebration, perhaps?
Hugs to you, and have a lovely and productive day. It would be too long to go into the self-improvement thing, but... yes. There we are.
Hurrah for December turquoise, and hurrah for exercise, and hurrah for you! :-) ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/33574859/675657) | From: | paratti |

Yay for your revision epiphany! And for Stoppard...
::hugs:: Thanks, Gwynne! A happy Sunday of good stuff (including writing) to you! :-) [hugs] Am drowning in various waves of administratrivia but am delighted for your various insights! (Am also deeply amused by the turquoise revelation and the unexpected outcome of your Friday evening activity! Hee!)
Best to the Dog of the House, and to you-- Alas for administrivia! [sends tea and sympathy]
Friday night... well, I kept thinking, 'this is not my beautiful self-actualization house'... ;-)
Hugs hugs! We persevere! I hope that your allergies ease up and disappear. *hugs* Thank you! May your Sunday be a delightful one. :-) [hugs] ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/15986822/3338779) | From: | ljrags |

I think the self improvement seminar worked quite well. You found a subject to write and proved you know yourself well enough that that class wasn't for you :) Love the turquoise! Heee! I suspect I won't write about the event, but I could, oh yes. ;-)
Hugs hugs, and a shiny Sunday evening to you! Hooks and Turquoise would be an awesome name for a band, wouldn't it? :-))
[hugs hugs] Happy start of the week to YOU, L! Must needs emerge from fog. Allergies, zomg!
Yay for new hook for story! Yay! and for the theatre news -- what would I know without you? Nothing!
::drive-by hugs::
Owe you email -- am flummoxed on choice. What do you WANT to write?
::more hugs:: H_P! [sends good cheer and hugs]
Heee, too, re your flummox -- will let you ponder for a bit still. :-)
May it be a GOOD Monday and a better week for you! [hugs again] This dark Monday morning, I am celebrating a wonderful weekend of cooking for M and I, fishing, cleaning said fish, and watching Rumpole in between said spates of cooking. Yesterday morn was brunch with poached eggs, fried breem and english 'chips' smothered in malt vinegar. Last night was steak and grilled onions, with two game hens smoked for tonight's meal! Of course, M got in that last night before bed.
Hope your allergies abate soon and that your week is a grand one!
Kimi Your weekend sounds just perfectly wonderful -- I am now craving chips and vinegar! :-))
Hugs hugs, a happy week, and happy eating! I have been doing much experimenting with making chips correctly so that they properly absorb the vinegar. Some batches are better than others.
Maybe I'm supposed to be frying in lard???? (snort) |
