|07:32 pm - Five Things Make An August First Post|
WARNING: Please do not adjust your
television computer monitor. There is no reason or connection between the five things I wish to note, no pattern or rhyme. (I am saving my coherence for my original project.)
Thing the First:
So The Sartorialist has moved to his very own site, which is searchable.
There are ten photos of Simone. Yes there are. Yes.
Thing the Second:
This weekend I watched the Criterion Collection DVD of Trouble in Paradise, which is oh so emphatically Lubitsch and oh so emphatically pre-Code. What's stuck with me, besides the B&W bittersweet screwball, is the comment Herbert Marshall as Gaston the thief says disparagingly about an uninteresting man: "No mystery. No... bouquet."
(Simone has both mystery and bouquet, I feel sure.)
Thing the Third:
Yesterday evening I heard an ice cream truck coming closer, ever closer, while thunder advanced in the background, and I thought that would make a cracking good horror story.
Thing the Fourth:
freixenet dropped in to visit today, and the Blonde Dog, shiny-clean from her morning's grooming, cuddled up to Freixenet in a most wanton manner.
Thing the Fifth:
I would like a glass of Champagne, or a bottle of Mexican beer. I will make do with iced water, with a slice of lemon.
I hope you have five things to start you off right in this dog-days month!
Yay Trouble in Paradise!
Now I would like a glass of champagne or a bottle of Mexican beer too. Though actually iced water with lemon sounds pretty good...
Miriam Hopkins in TiP is just fierce. :-)
Hugs and a good Tuesday, Gwynne!
The ice cream truck and thunder would make a good horror story. One went by our office a while back and you could see everyone stop and want to go out and find it.
I would like a glass of Champagne too, but had too much wine last night so it's probably best that I don't :)
Sunday evening the ice cream truck stopped at my neighbors' house (they have several children ;-)), so I had lots of time to consider running outside to partake. ;-)
Hurrah for good wine, whenever you had it, and cheers for your Tuesday!
A glass of cold champagne, handed intimately to you by Simone on the street in Florence. (For purposes of fantasy, we'll say that the street in Florence has the temperature of June and the population of February).
Thanks for making our world a little richer...
Oh, what a lovely thing to dream on. ;-)
Thank you, thank you twice. May you have a peace-filled and joyous Tuesday!
The photo of Simone at the newstand caught my breath big time.
Am going to add Trouble in Paradise to my all ready too long Netflix queue
The ice cream truck/thunder thing would make a seriously wonderful story.
That IS a good photo of Simone, yes indeed. Yes. Yes. :-)
Cheers, good thoughts, hugs for your Tuesday!

Raises a glass with you.
Hugs hugs, L! Happy day to you!
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and the Blonde One is always welcome to snuggle me. Thank you for sharing her (and iced tea) with me! (Please to remember there are limes if you get tired of lemon.)
I think writing a ficlet would be great. Of course, it will have to wait until after the last chapter of your OP.
Hugs and eyes on Emily!
Eyes on Emily indeed! We must be alert....
And we'll have to build in more time for tea this fall. :-)
Cheers and hugs!
Never mind the lack of champagne, I have no sparkling water either ;-)
My own fault for being disorganised, of course.
You're not disorganised -- you simply have put your organisational skills toward something other than sparkling water. :-)
Happy Tuesday, Stevie!
It's already the 3rd and I've only just seen this?
Alack for post-convention(s) distraction. But what lovely images you've chosen to share!
Toasts you with iced Constant Comment (decaf, so I can drink it all evening)....
I hope you've recovered from conventions and sock summits etc etc. Maybe you need more bubbly instead of decaf tea? ;-)
Hugs and cheers!
