|03:49 pm - What I need = a little lift|
Right, so I've been thinking about writing more regularly in this journal (because of Reasons), and I've been thinking that it might be nice to do so on a regular schedule -- say, Mondays and Thursdays. This is the first week of my new resolve, what-ho!
(Okay, yes, it's Tuesday. I am a work in progress.)
Beyond more attention to the days of the week, what I need right now is a little lift.
Not an actual picked-up-by-a-giant lift, not a car ride from an acquaintance or possible axe murderer, but a certain springiness in the legs, a lithesome lightness in leaping. A little lift.
This need has been simmering since I started a new workout sequence into my weekly rotation. Done twice a week, this particular workout involves a lot of jumps. A lot a lot of jumps. Jumps jumps jumps. And all I can say is, "Ow."
Once, my friends, I had a fine vertical leap. I wasn't a high jumper or anything, but I could get off the ground quite nicely. With the weight of years (metaphorical and literal), however, it's a lot harder to loose the bonds of earth-gravity-what-have-you and leap. It's a lot harder coming down, too.
I persevere. I will leap, but nevertheless I could use a little lift.
Like Mr Tom Hiddleston floating above the earth.
May you all have a little lift in your week!
Hi, sweetie! I'd be glad to see you writing more :)
I can't even do squats anymore, that's my goal for the summer (well, I can get down. Just can't get back up :( )
Squats are hard on the knees! Be careful!
And hi, Cronopio, and happy Tuesday. :)
No leaping for me, though I could use a lift. :-)
[offers lift, possibly with doughnut]
I immediately thought of Dudley Moore in nun's habit in "Bedazzled" trying not to fall off his trampoline -- that oiled be me. I am sure you would lift with Peter Cook's suave elegance.
Cheers! Comic-con is over and the 12-hour truck ride completed!
A trampoline would be awesome. :)
And it is awesome you made it through Comic-Con! Yay you! [applauds]

Heee, that would be uncontrolled lift! :)
Cheers and hugs, L.
Hope you'll soon be flying! And not landing too hard.
(Try it in water?)
No real opportunity to try jumping in water, although I'm sure it would be better for my knees. I'll persevere (and pay attention to my body, which yoga has indeed taught me).
Cheers and a good evening to you!
I saw last night that Mark Gattiss has been cast in the next season of "Game of Thrones" and thought of you. Not sure if that would give you a lift, since I understand (still haven't watched any) that everyone dies horribly, but it might give you something for a while!
I am trying, trying, trying to get back to lifting, myself, as in weights; I got a new set of slightly heavier ones to help supplement this, but so far... *yawn*
Hugs and happy thoughts!
Mark Gatiss said at Comic-Con that he's already shot his part, so I assume it's not a major role. (I don't watch GoT either, but I'll watch it when he's on. ;))
Happy lifting of weights, whenever you get to it! Cheers and hugs!

[hugs] and hopes for a little spring to your creative step.
I went and signed up for that online mixed-media class I've been dithering about. It starts a week from Friday, and I am so not feeling the creativity. Oh well, I can always download the lessons and stash it for later...
(Sorry about previous deleted comment; I had the wrong sign-in.)
Anyway, cheers for your class, good thoughts that creativity flows, and hugs for your Wednesday!
The coming down is definitely the part that has to be planned for. I may start with some hops. Work my way up to jumps and leaps.
Hee! Hops I can manage (small hops, anyway). The workout directions also suggest skipping in place as part of the warmup, which is sort of difficult; I always want to start skipping properly. ;)
Cheers and hugs on your Wednesday!
I hope you find a little lift for yourself. Look forward to seeing your Thursday post :)
Today, thank heavens, is a workout day when I stay on the ground. Mostly. ;)
Cheers, hugs, and a lift to you, T!
Sharing a meal with you on Tuesday was my lift for the week, my friend. Jump jump jump. It isn't Van Halen, it is so much better than that!
It was a nice lunch! And I can't even approach the heights of Young David Lee Roth, so I won't repine. :))
Cheers and hugs and a lift!
Jumping! I'm actually doing some burpees ... I dunno, it seems to be a thing this summer, and I've always known I'm one of the world's worst jumpers, but man. Let me know if you have any hints!
Meanwhile, I'm sending cooling breezes, excellent bubbly water with lime on a patio beneath some palms, overlooking the ocean, and a suave dandy come to charm you with talk about theatre and fashion.
Burpees -- oh lord, SO MUCH NOT FUN. (I'm doing them too, no doubt badly.) But I understand from my exercise-expert brother that they are The Thing To Do, so....
Thank you for your generous gift of breezes and sparkling water and a dandy, and I send YOU cool dry breezes through a Northern California canyon, the drink of your choice, and a sunset talking about philosophy and food. :)
Cheers to you!
I mean, the sunset doesn't talk to you. A charming companion who shares 95% of your positions (so that there's room for discussion) talks to you. :)
I've been uplifted by Shakespeare this week.
Hurrah for Shakespeare and you! Hurrah! :)
Happy Saturday, Stevie.
