09:05 am - Impossible Things I Want; Good Things I Have (or Have Had in the Past Two Days)
On this Monday, here are the impossible things I want:

*World peace. Or at least a peace-equivalent, which includes diplomats hissing at each other in manner of George Sanders or Rex Harrison, but does NOT include violence or weapons other than sarcasm.
*To be in Oxford (Oxfordshire, not Mississippi), walking along the Thames.
*Or, since I'm home, this room, which is Ingrid Bergman's living space in the 1958 film Indiscreet.
*Also, a Provencal terrace like this one. Or possibly this one.
*A bottle of Pol Roger in the fridge, to be opened during the next thunderstorm and sipped contemplatively in the dark illuminated by flashes of Edmund Kean lightning while a 1950s Fred Astaire record plays softly.
*The Dangerous Dog to mind me. Yes, it is equally unattainable.

On this Monday, here are the good things I have (or have had):
*Driving in gorgeous rain while the sun sets ahead in a break in the wall-cloud.
*A great dinner out with one of my oldest and best friends, with a glass of Pouilly-Fusse and chicken tarragon.
*Thinking about autumn.
*Scrubbing the kitchen floor, which while not in itself pleasurable has resulted in a nice gleaming surface to slide across.
*Listening to a 1950s Fred Astaire record.
*The Dangerous Dog being only mildly ungovernable this morning when we met one of our regular walking guys with his Border Collie. The guy chatted to me of cool weather to come and sunspot activities whilst the Dangerous Dog pranced in a slightly aggressive manner. When we left them, Master Danger and I sprinted down the hill , enjoying the breeze we made.

Cheers to all, and may you have more good things in your day!

Agrees heartily with #1. It would be nice NOT to have B greet me when I wake up with, "we're still not at war."

On the plus side, I woke in the middle of the night to determined, cooling rain that is still drenching us as I type. This time, I can't see across the valley for the rain and mist rather the smoke from fires. A huge improvement, obviously.

Hugs and more good things for us all this week.

Edited for missing key word...

I am so glad that it's raining where you are! I hope it reaches the Big Fire, too.

And thank you for clarifying the key word, because I was a wee bit confused. ;)

Cheers and peace and hugs, ALH.

Pol Roger sounds lovely, if only it wasn't so darned expensive :)

Pol Roger IS expensive, which is why I don't have any in the fridge. :) Perhaps for my birthday....

Cheers and a happy Monday, T!

Autumn, autumn, autumn...Surely if I concentrate on it hard enough, it will appear! :-)

Yes, it's still hideously hot here too. But on our sunrise walks, the people Master Danger and I meet are all as ready for autumn and as concentrated as we are. :)

Cheers and hugs!

I want a terrace.

Yay for sprinting with dogs, and clean kitchen floors!

I am yearning for a gravel terrace with a shade structure. (And yet I wouldn't go outside long enough to justify it... ;))

Cheers hugs and a great day, S!
