|12:21 pm - Fashion Friday|
... Not of course that I am fashionable on this Friday, although I have managed to pull on a purple Boden sheath dress to celebrate the end of a trying work week. No, friends, Fashion Month (for spring/summer 2014) has begun -- as the this Styleograph image tells us.
I love that image, btw. Love the mass of photographers in the shadows, love the teetering model (with her back to us) in the sunlight, love the grey stone in the background.
I'm not fond of spring/summer collections as a rule, however, and although NY Fashion Week *should* speak to my love of sportswear, it mostly... doesn't. London's much more interesting to me, Paris more distant (except maybe for Celine), Milan often cool and suggestive. Ah well, NYC doesn't need me anyway. ;)
So instead let's enjoy four images, today's moments of Zen:
*Hipster Dude on a motorcycle, with Steve McQueen white jeans and a turn of the head that makes me think of Richard Armitage.
*Speaking of Richard Armitage, here he is. A great coat. A mirror shot, which we know is my Thang.
*The great Christy Turlington, with ankle-strap shoes. I love the angles made here, I love the museum/gallery coolness of the mis-en-scene.
*Benedict Cumberbatch, TIFF, tux. And blue eyes.
May your day be stylin', however you define it!

Yay purple Boden sheath dress!
I don't feel quite right in the dress, but it IS nice. Perhaps more your style, with your love of purple and green! :)
Cheers and a great Friday -- and hugs.
In some other life/world there has to be a version of me that that could wear those ankle straps and that gown and carry them off 1/100th as well as Christy Turlington does.
The only Fall Fashion I've seen s far has been a quick browse through one of the men's fashion magazines, maybe checking in on that will be a thing for this weekend.
I understand what you mean about Christy Turlington in that shot! Because wow.
Cheers and hugs and fashion bits-and-bobs this weekend, S. :)
Aiee! The Turlington, and the Cumberbatch, they are burningly beautiful. You find the best links. :)
Happy, um, Saturday?I think.
I'm so glad you like those shots! Aren't they awesome?
Hugs to you, F, and a great Saturday.
Purple's my favorite color! And I agree that spring/summer collections lack a certain something. For me, the biggest problem is that the collections are either too wierd or too girly and/or twee. So many designers think women want to be done up in ruffles/sheers/lace/pastels/really pale colors in general/twee collars. Or, it's ugly prints and too-bright colors. And a lot of fashion these days just wants to put together the weirdest possible shit from the 80s and early 90s. It also seems to me that "high fashion" has given up on trying to flatter women at all and just tries to mix up a bunch of stuff and throw it on the runway in order to elicit comment. The result is shapes, colors, and cuts that you would never see anyone wearing on the street -- seriously, where are the people that wear this stuff? I can go to the hippest neighborhoods in Seattle and look around and nobody is ever tricked-out in "high fashion." Some hip, elegant stuff, yes. But nobody is wearing or selling this unflattering crap. This summer I looked around and nobody was walking around in a white bustier top with a half-sheer neon yellow skirt cut up to there. Sorry for the rant. I was looking at some of the stuff from fashion week and it just came out. IDK, maybe people are wearing this stuff in clubs. The last time I was in a club I was in NYC and everyone was wearing black.
And Hi, Btw. I haven't been online because I wasn't well -- there was some mix-up and I didn't get medication I was supposed to have, but as you always say, we persevere....I hope you are well.
I will confess that here in the subtropical summer it's entirely possible to see someone in a white bustier top and a neon-yellow skirt. But then, I don't dress like a lot of people here. ;)
I'm so sorry to hear you've been unwell. :( Hugs and healing vibes sent your way!
